Over the last half of the fight, Broner landed 63 of 300 punches while Santiago landed 114 of 392 punches. The ninth round was Broner’s most active, which saw him land 12 of 38 punches. Santiago landed 18 of 57 punches in that round.
n the 12th and final round Santiago landed 32 of 95 punches, and Broner landed 7 of 34 punches. This was a robbery, the judges had the cards already scored before the fight even started.Santiago needed a KO to get at least a draw.
Disgraceful scorecard, just seen the stats for the fight. No way should santiago come out with a L. Shady decision..

    • They probably gave it to Broner because of the weigh in issue.

Don't think that's very likely to happen. So far only Maidana got him down and that was 7 years ago.

There are a couple big differences between Gatti and Broner. Gatti never ran his mouth like Broner; AB will talk before, during and after a fight about what he's going to do to an opponent (but then never actually does it). This leads me to the other major difference; Gatti actually entertained in the ring. There was a good chance someone was getting stretched in a Gatti fight. AB will throw a few punches each round and keep his guard up the rest of the time so he doesn't get embarrassed like he did against Maidana. Simply put, Gatti was a warrior and Broner is not. When you entertain and please the fans, alot of personal flaws will be overlooked.

          • This type of opponent will be Broners future from now on.

For an organization that doesn’t give “af” about Latino fighters they sure do have a lot of them. 60 to be exact.

So gatti wasn’t the best example, how about Johnny tapia god rest his soul. People just love to hate broner and he’s rewarded handsomely for it, tapia was beloved and an overall terrible human being outside the ring. The media loves broners schtick and the fans eat it up, which is why he can still get fights this long after his period of domination

I'd say Tapia is better comparison, both he and Broner certainly have had to battle some personal demons. They both embraced the "crazy life". Tapia had a helluva chin but wasn't a heavy hitter, alot of his fights went the distance but he was involved in some wars that entertained the fans.

Maybe it's me, but I can't remember the last time Broner was in an entertaining fight. Maybe the final round of his loss to Porter? Regardless, he certainly has a following and the content providers still want to showcase him so he has that going for him.

Managed has little to do with it. Lifestyle doesn’t mean squat if you come to fight. Gatti gave every piece of himself every time out. He made a name for himself by being Gatti. He was comfortable with who he was. He didn’t try to imitate anyone. Broner otoh is a follower. He has mental problems. He isn’t unique. Broner isn’t Broner. He has tried for years to be Floyd unsuccessfully and to this day still tries terribly. He doesn’t come to fight. His career has been over for at least 6 years.

                    • I know that Broner racked up 4 world title belts at an early age but other than Antonio DeMarco, what's his best win? Paulie Malignaggi? Allakverdiev or Molina?
