The UK is not a "plucky" nation, its the fifth largest economy in the world with some of the most storied history in regards to boxing. The problem is not simply talent, its every aspect of the game. British boxers are far too rudimentary at professional level. Much of the coaching needs a complete overhaul. Its become a game of shelling out large amounts for fancy nonsense intermixed with sports science guff. Very little of it seems to be about footwork, shadowboxing and actual fighting. Whilst the increased money and interest means you get more deserving guys being developed, it also means you get a bunch of one dimensional plodders garnering interest only to be cut down by their similarly ranked Mexican/American counterparts.
The inventing boxing has no relevance whatsoever.

They have had between the 6-9th largest economy over the last 30 years if you want to get technical.

The US has had the 1st or 2nd, mexico also in the top 20 (currently 15th). They have 4x and nearly 2x the population. Boxing is the 2nd biggest sport in Mexico.

Even at a time when they are not doing particularly well, the UK currently has every belt at heavyweight, 2 ring magazine champions, and a boxer in the p4p rankings.

There are aspects about the way they bring pros through that could be better (already addressed in first post) and yes I think they have a shortage of top quality professional trainers, but your first post is full of generalizing and a lot of BS...they do punch above their weight and have done for a long time. They had the most world champions in boxing in 2016. The fact that they have a heritage in the sport shouldn't undermine the fact that they continue to do exceptionally well in the sport.

Puerto Rico are an anomaly, the US and Mexico have consistently dominated the sport, the Soviets are starting to make some serious noise in the pro's (as they should) but the UK has always been relevant and will continue to do so...if anything I am seeing improvement, and more participation particularly around London. I think it's a matter of time before you see a really special kid come out of London - like a p4p 1 level of kid...mark my words

Man I love the Brits. Love everything about the damn country. But when it comes to boxing...boxing is merely a sport. When it comes to Mexico and the US...it’s still a means out of poverty, crime, and hardship. It’s livelihood, and that my friend is what separates talent from the intangibles that make the boxing elite different. Listen to the American boxers that talk about their experiences sparring and working in the UK...it tells you everything you need to know. If Callum Smith was Mexican, Canelo wouldn’t even take that fight. I expect nothing of BJS when the time comes.

Joshua and Fury are current outliers in my opinion. They have the talent and pedigree but they also have the common connection of also being of foreign heritage with those intangibles added on top of their talents.

no idea why people are clinging on to losses for Kelly and Warrington both euro level fighters its the equivalent of someone laughing at charles martin getting ktfo or broner going life and death with some 50 plus ranked fighter and having daddy haymon save him

it dont matter what country it is if a fighters hit his level he will get found out besides the biggest division HW is dominated by 2 british fighters one who recently snapped wilders bird legs lol

He beat a prime and undefeated Prograis, can’t call him a hype job at all. That’s a better win than anything on Crawford’s record and he also beat Postol (top 3 Bud win lol) with only 12 fights in.
