I gave Loma an A. He lacks that killer instinct.
Grade a fighter day 16: What grade do you give Vasyl Lomachenko?

C+. And that's me being generous. I'm a nice guy. There's the lost to Salido and the fact that a young, inexperienced like Teo had him on the backfoot. His best is Linares(?). Can't justify going any higher than a C+ with his paper thin resume.Comment

I give him a B+. As an amateur he is no doubt an A+, but we have to be careful not to let that impact his professional grade.
His dominating wins over Gary Russell and Walters were great, but we have to recognize that Russell as a little smaller and really hasn't done anything as a pro. Same with Walters, a little bigger but who has he really beat and what has he really done.
At 135 it's a different story, he won belts, but I say with everyone belts aren't really all that important. It's who you beat and how you beat them. None of these guys he beat at 135 were that great and they all had a lot of success against Loma, and Loma couldn't stop guys like Campbell and Pedraza, who Tank Davis and Ryan Garcia beat easily. Who have these guys beat? How did they beat them? Walters KOd donaire sure, but that was with a massive size advantage and also got buzzed a few times. When he fought someone a little bigger, Mariaga, he couldn't stop him, same with Jason Sosa. And this is a guy known for his power so a bad look. Now Gary Russell Jr. you can say had a good win against Gonzalez and Diaz, but still.
Rigo? GOOD win for Loma, but, one more time, big weight difference, Even Loma himself said he couldn't give himself a ton of credit for that.
I'm sure I will get flamed for this, but I give him a B+.Comment

Andre Ward WON the super 6. Let's not forget that. Including an easy win against one of the best fighters of this generation, Carl the Cobra Froch.
And then to prove it was no fluke he went UP in weight to fight a guy that many believes was the NUMBER ONE POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER in the world. He won a close decision the first time, and in the second fight he dominated and brutally KOd him. No catchweight. No stipulations. No short camps. No rehydration clauses. None of that. Just 2 clean wins.
This is the stuff worthy of an A+.
When Loma moves up in weight and beats a p4p fighter, he too will get an A+. Until then, he's just another good fighter.Last edited by TernceBudCharlo; 02-19-2021, 02:18 PM.Comment

A brutal KO is when a fighter is laying on the floor, asleep. Not crouching because his balls just got turned into scrambled eggs.Comment

He has no great victories. His best win is an undersized Rigo.Comment

He broke his soul gradually over those 6-7 rounds. You could see it in Kovalev's face. When he landed that straight right in that round, it was the beginning of the end and you could se the fight was over.Comment
