But I do think Prince Naseem Hamed was under par vs Barrera. People tend to overrate that performance, it was hardly a beat down etc

Totally agree.Hamed barely trained. Has very crumlng hands was thinking to reture already for a couple of years. Manny Steewart who undertook his last 2 weeks of training said he wasn't training seriously in Bing Crosby's old home, mostly barely going theoru the motions.

I gave him an A+. He was a hell of a good fighter with a great record and fighters like him is what an A+ grade is for.

You could easily see that in the fight itself he was messing around and not seriously using his real boxing skills. Yet it was a 112-116 result. One more rd making 113=115 would have nbeen better. But I still say that the deliberate ramming of hi head into the tyrnbuckle should havehad Barrera disqualifie. I've seen DQ's for far lees, for nothing in fact, except the ******ity or worse of the refs, like Emanuel Augustus being so unfairly DQ'd.

That we'll never know, but it would have to have had a much better effect, because the end result was still only a 112-116 loss, hardly a beatdown. And Hamed was a really top class champ for years. Even with training , his hands were crumbling anyway. I've seen picturs of them before and after fights. Before... they looked horrible, knuckles missing or out of place. After ...much more ghastly, like a Frankenstein horror hand. I'm sure I saw a hand missing two knuckles with one huge protruding knuckle.

I think they were, by that time and before, just cobbling his hands together the best way they could, after so many breaks, and shattered shard of bone needing to be removed..
