Martin called out Joshua specifically because Joshua got so much press without actually having done anything on the world stage.

Warrington is just a kid who did well and got upset in his career. There's tons of that in boxing all the time. Joshua was made to be special from the beginning and when he lost to an out of shape fat man who had already lost to a man he beat pretty easily that was shocking even for Joshua haters who claimed Ruiz was going to win. No one thought Ruiz would destroy Joshua and the excitement from those whose trolling worked out lets you know how much they really believed in the possibility.

Buster is the only thing close in boxing history I know of.

Edit - Rexy don't count. He's legit, but like he said, maybe 3 posters here were legit on Ruiz's side....no one
Ruiz beating Joshua was a huge upset, of course. But it is a fact that Ruiz had fought for the WBO HW title. He hadn't looked out of his depth at all in that fight. Most people expected Joshua to win, but Ruiz was still someone with some pedigree at that level. Versus Lara who was basically a complete unknown.

I think you can argue it either way, but Hearn is not wrong in saying Ruiz was a higher-rated opponent, so I can see where he is coming from to some degree.

        I agree with this.

Warrington has decent ability but his main gifts were the results of hard work and being an utter professional. He was very fit and physically strong with good toughness. But he cant really punch very hard and his career has been a tough road to this point.

I didn't bet against him so I didnt see it coming but it was really one of those fights were maybe after a round and you can see Lara has a good idea of what he's doing and that he can **** that the stars were aligning nicely for the Mexican kid.

Someone like Josh is definitely reliant on what happens in the gym and less so by being able to fall back on skills that would elevate him over someone like Lara.

If AJ doesn't go close quarters with Ruiz where Ruiz's short arms give him a huge advantage, Ruiz has no chance of winning at all.
Not on my tape, sorry. Ruiz has better moves and better chin. He was floored but immediately got up and traded. Have a look at Ruiz Parker or Ruiz Dimitrenko to see his movements when "fit".

I'm going to give Eddy some credit. He has produced some amazing shockers. As much as I complain, it feels good watching these upsets. I feel bad for Josh, but the king is dead, long live the king.

It's not what the people who put these odds together say young Edward ...I think your telling more porkies Edward. Unless he's saying that the fighter who lost to Parker but beat Joshua came as no real surprise to him , meaning he doesn't have much confidence in the big lad...oh dear and this going into such a big level up fight.....I see why he insisted on a two payday deal now.

On paper, yes. As for the Joshua/Ruiz upset, it was a lot bigger and more shocking witnessing it happen. A lot of casual fans watched that fight and had heard so much hype about AJ. Seeing him get dethroned by Ruiz (virtually an unknown to most people) left a lasting impression on fans.
