It's Hearn looking out for his fighter. Lara signed the contract, it's not like he was tricked into it.

Ahh ok. My memory of the past month has been fuzzy as hell.

If the fight happens with a crowd, then it'll make $ense for Lara. If not, he should be allowed to move forward.

How do you envision him capitalizing off his win?

In the rematch there is actual buzz and interest, it is a much bigger spectacle, not seen as a gimme fight like the first one. Assuming it would be around May, June time, there's every chance fans will be allowed in the venue by then in the UK. More revenue, bigger earning potential, and Lara can hold out for a much better payday than he made in the first fight. The likelihood is he got paid well first time round too, so it is win-win for Lara.

What other options do you see for him during these "pandemic" times? The sport isn't exactly thriving right now.

I wasn't playing, planning on losing is for losers.

This is the kid who dropped a belt because he didn't want to beat up the same guy twice? Cherry picks him a cabbie, throws in a rematch clause, sits on ass and loses....eh....***** ****.

I wouldn't take it if I were Warrington, the same thing would happen. The dumb ass SKY commentators were talking about Josh having an off night but that's crap. That was standard Warrington. Styles make fights and a good solid Mexican who isn't scared to trade would give as good as he got with somebody like Warrington.

Josh plants his feet and throws some beautiful power punches but there isn't much power in them. He couldn't deter the Mexican and then he didn't get back on his toes quick enough to get out of the danger zone.

I like him as a fighter, good to watch but he has his limits. I can't imagine a different result in a rematch and I have no idea why on earth this fight would have a rematch clause. Doesn't seem necessary and the only thing he has got from it is a mark on the L column and he can't ever wipe that out.

Isn't that what you people been preaching all these years?
Nah. You're just assuming Warrington will beat him in the rematch
which is the point of this thread.

Warrington has a broken jaw & busted ear drum, he's not fighting for a while. Lara fought 4 times last year. He can capitalize on it by fighting instead of waiting around.

It's Lara's best option though. He'll rise in the rankings but it's not like he's the mandatory for anything right now, so it's not like there's a more lucrative fight that he's missing out on, and after that showing I doubt that there'll be any other fighters that'll want to fight of him of their own volition because he represents a big threat for not that much reward. Warrington's a brand name in the UK so the fight will make good money, doubly so if sports venues open up by the time it happens, and this time Lara's most likely going to be entitled to a bigger share of the pie. And ultimately it's a fight that he'd be heavily favoured to win again. I'm not buying the excuse that Warrington had an off night, I just think this is a bad matchup for him.

He shouldn't have agreed to those terms then

If I was advising Warrington, I'd avoid this rematch. Styles make fights, and Warrington, whilst very good at what he is, does not match well with Lara. Lara can take his shots, and is willing to throw, will always land, and he hits hard enough to constantly hurt Warrington. the rematch goes the same way.

I scored Warrington vs Galahad a draw, but I think Galahad would beat Lara handily, again, styles making fights. Lara is good enough to hang around and have a good future though, I liked what I saw of him. I think Warrington might be done now, I think he always had faith in his chin, now he knows it can be cracked, I believe he will try and fight more cautiously, which is not his style.

I hate them. I hate rematches when the first fight was completely decisive too.

Rematch clauses basically mean the underdog has to win twice.
