  • Comments Thread For: Dillian Whyte: I Never Overlooked Povetkin, Stayed Grounded Whole Time

Dillian Whyte didn't underestimate Alexander Povetkin. Whyte insists he took Povetkin seriously prior to their fight five months ago. He realized that Povetkin's power would be the last thing to go, which made the Russian underdog, then 39 years old, a legitimate threat entering their 12-round fight August 22 for Whyte's WBC interim heavyweight title.

Nobody said you did Dillian, it's just that Povetkin had too much nuance and skill for you, despite being an old man.

I disagree. Whyte was looking past Povetkin. All he talked about was Wilder this & Wilder that. Then it was Fury after he beat Wilder. Fury this then Fury that. This rematch of a old faded fighter and a guy that has just been wiped out in his last fight should be a support card fight , a warm up to a live PPv.
I wonder if Whyte wins does Povetkin get a rematch as it will be 1-1 ....Young Edward won't like a rematch clause there !

Whyte stayed grounded for at least 15 minutes after that uppercut landed.

Povetkin extended his hand to shake Whyte and got shunned.

Whyte was looking past Povetkin. Those knockdowns gave Whyte too much confidence and he was looking past Povetkin.
