Holy Shit! I never even knew the poor man was suffering from cancer, may he R.I.P. I remember seeing a documentary called facing Ali and Leon was rather humble and humorous to listen to..

I remember him saying even when he won as much as he loved it and to be the Champion for only a short period before it went back to Ali he was thrilled to be able to fight him and come out victorious in their first bout...

Sad news indeed my condolences to his family..

I remember watching Leon Spinks getting dropped by a Cuban Sixto Soria in the Olympics. He got up off the canvas undaunted, like a man possed. He went right after the Cuban with that crazed look in his eyes, and dropped him after a fierce exchange for a TKO in the third round. It was an amazing fight, and the greatest win in his career as far as I'm concerned. He was all heart, American, Marine, and champion in the ring. Rest in peace brother Leon, you fought some great fights in your lifetime. Even though you were the brunt of jokes, during some low points in your career. I have nothing but respect for your fighting ability, and military service.
