You not only have to land it, you would have to land it at the perfect time when your backfoot lands so you can pivot shifting your weight into the punch and your opponent would have to be in just the right position for it to work.

Its really a ****** move whether it be in a boxing match, MMA cage, or a street fight.

lol the dude was already staggered. I don't think he tried it out of knowing wtf he was doing. He simply went balls to the wallz to get Mayweather out that he leaped at him. Kind of like when Mosley hurt Margarito a few times in their fight. He literally leaped at Margarito with a punch to follow-up quickly and capitalize. Not with any intention to think about setting up and throwing the superman punch...

I also find, it's a completely fake "quality" punch that looks good in comics and movies. Of course that .gif is from wrestling so it doesn't surprise me. The amount of fake moves that are pulled off are unlimited in that. You literally have a guy standing there waiting for the punch so he can put on his best act to react to it...

Skip to 18:06 for the best acting you'll see after multiple punches land.

The only way it would work is if the opponent purposefully braces for it to take the hit and the fall like John Cena. He clearly had plenty of time to block, but it was scripted for him to take the punch.

But the little knee lift at 0:52 though

That's the type of move you see when little kids fights because they no clue how else to block so they would try to block punches with my legs. Just try to cover up with whatever means necessary and you mistakenly throw up a knee out of desperation.

There’s gotta be plenty of boxers who have tried it in the gym/sparring by know you’d think? Maybe not though? But it’s been around long enough that there would be some clips if it was effective in boxing. Anyone seen it in Kickboxing? Thai boxing? Speaking of Roman Reigns it’s “The Spear” that is hard to swallow in pro wrestling. Does that mean the Samoan rugby team can’t hit for squat?
