Eddie Hearn understands that the boxing business is such that Caleb Plant probably won't fight again before Canelo Alvarez battles Avni Yildirim and Billy Joe Saunders. With by far the biggest payday of his career looming, Plant is unlikely to risk his September shot at Alvarez against anyone, let alone David Benavidez. Hearn whose company, Matchroom Boxing, will promote Alvarez at least for the Yidirim and Saunders fights still would prefer Plant to challenge himself versus Benavidez before facing Alvarez.

Where are all the Charlo and Andrade supporters at? They kept saying and saying how Canelo is ducking their heroes, how Canelo won't fight them, well this is their chance.

Step up in May and fight Plant. Get that IBF belt to see if Canelo is really the one doing the ducking.

Plant is a very classy boxer but yes, he hasn't beaten any fighter of note, except a mildly notable Uzcategui.

If he had a choice, I doubt he'd take the risk and fight Benavidez, a fight he could very well lose.
