Grade a fighter day 4: What grade do you give Michael Spinks?

Disclaimer: These threads will be MAILED in a envelope and sent to each individual fighter on what the public thinks of their boxing. The cutoff for these votes will be 24 hours. After that, the poll closes and the thread along with the poll results gets mailed off to the fighters address.

Day 1: Frank Bruno 21 votes: Majority grade = B
Day 2: Deontay Wilder 30 votes: Majority grade = C+
Day 3: Antonio Margarito 27 votes: Majority grade = B

Unfortunately a lot of people will only remember Spinks for his KO loss to a young and hungry Tyson.

But what grade do you give Spinks?

I won't argue against Spinks being the greatest LHW or a top tier p4p all time. LHWs really get overlooked at lot of the time. I don't see many on anyone's p4p lists and that's sad because Spinks and Charles and such are definitely p4p atgs. Tunney gets respected pretty often but usually for Dempsey not so much his LHW run.

Spinks himself gets remembered too often for his first round Ko loss to Tyson and not enough for being one of if not the most dominant LHW champion with the fiercest competition and best resume who also ended a 48 fight win streak over an atg heavyweight.

Spinks was ****ing fantastic. Folks should remember that.

A+ one of the GOAT 175 fighters of all time, moved up and beat an ATG heavyweight champion (twice) and defended it a few times too.

I rank him higher as a heavyweight TBH. Beat Larry Holmes twice and stopped Gerry Cooney in 5 rounds (who outweighed him by thirty pounds)

He was gifted the Holmes rematch and got stripped of a belt for not fighting Tony Tucker ,he also has a win over a washed out Cooney who could have won that fight .

Other then those few points ,he’s a solid CW , very crafty and for his time could have maybe even had a run at a title beyond Holmes if not for one of the most dangerous heavyweight fighters Mike Tyson .

Well balanced guy ,underated puncher but won with speed and great angles .

                  B + .
