The thing I hope for this match is AJ trying to run'n'jump like he did vs Ruiz. I hope this so much...to see him caught and blasted by the superior Fury.

        Compares favourably to today’s fighters
Only slightly. Some of these guys were blown out quickly. Mike had a 2 year prime. Holyfield fails the drug tests. Tommy Morrison blown out. McCall crying against Lennox in 1997.

Again, 90's still isn't much better. all eras have their stand outs.

Stick the best of the 90's against the best of 2010's and 2020's against each other we'd have competitive fights.

The next crop coming over the next few years to replace AJ, Fury & co in 2025 will be interesting. Pretty sure Fury is going to dominate the next 3-4 years and easily cement himself as a top 10 ATG.

I see where you’re coming from - I thought exactly the same of Fury from the first McDermott fight.

However I’m talking about improvement right from day 0. Fury has boxed almost his entire life and had already won amateur titles by the time AJ started learning aged 18, and turned pro 5 years before AJ.

That they’re being talked about in the same era just goes to shows just how fast AJ has developed since first lacing up gloves when compared to the rest.

70's was abit of a golden era however they were still much smaller men compared to today. Heavyweight boxing has changed.
Well your clueless. Just off the top of my head in the 90s.

How many of today's top 10 get in the 90s?
If you want a real comparison Aj is Michael Grant xD look how well he did xD

In the 90s Tyson was given no credit for destroying a 38 yr old Holmes yet mugs today give Aj credit for fighting Klitschko Takem Povetkin Pulev all 38-41.
Ajs never boxed a top 2 heavyweight. Pathetic

Joshua can be guilty of telegraphing his punches a bit at times. He's also a decent counter puncher though and throws good combinations. He's strong at mid to close range, has good power and decent speed. He could cause Fury some real problems. Should be a good fight.

You could throw in Rahman(2 time champion), Byrd (2 titles), Ruiz (2 titles) on that list. You can add fringe level fighters like Maskaev (1 title), Donald, McCall (1 title), Botha, Savarese, Briggs (1 title), Golota... The 90s was pretty deep in my opinion.

38 year Holmes is like a 70 year old man compared to 38 year old Povetkin/Wlad. Holmes went through wars. He fought a prime 1988 Tyson, that's not even a fight.

You can always tell new boxing fans from the Johnny come lately types. Comparing today’s division to the 90s is insane, that was the second best era ever for the heavyweight division. You nailed it
