OF COURSE this fight was never a realistic option, no way in hell do you put in a berlanga at this stage in his career vs a Benavidez, theirs is no good for berlanga in this fight from it. Yeah he will probably get paid but he takes a beating, takes a L, and learns nothing, and career is damaged for the time being.

Look at the nature of the tweet. Technically, Connolly should’ve said “have Lewkowitz give me a call and discuss business.” If Conolly is asking for Al, he knows Al can’t afford in which Top Rank / or team Berlanga would ask for. PBC doesn’t have anything going atm, and Ellis is affordable. I’m sure Ellis was already in the works before all this Berlanga/Benavidez junk began.

He's saying that to save face for his fighter. Berlanga is not ready for Benavidez and everybody knows this. Both sides but I'm putting more blame on Benavidez because he's picking on a kid he knows isn't ready
