    Eddie Hearn emphasized that the deal isn't quite done for a Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders fight. Alvarez's promoter admitted, though, that they're "very close to finalizing" contracts for Alvarez and Saunders to meet May 1 or May 8 at a venue to be determined. Hearn also acknowledged that Saunders will be paid a lower purse for facing the Mexican superstar in three months than Saunders would've earned had he squared off against Alvarez last May 2.

      Saunders is positioning himself to avoid a fight with Canelo. That is his M.O. He has done it before and will do it again. In fact, Saunders is averse to fighting any of the top fighters at 160 or 168. He is all talk. Let's see if Plant actually steps up to fight someone with a body temperature approximating 98.6 degrees. These guys are clowns. They ought to follow the example of Teofimo and Errol Spence who actually seek out the tough competition.
