Ryan Garcia is Devin Haney's mandatory. So not only is he avoiding a fight with Haney he's also not looking for a fight with Davis either. That's a disappointment after he was so vocal about Davis being next and wanting that fight. Not a good look for Garcia no matter how you try to spin it.Comment

Lol... so you can clout chase a boxer generating more revenue. Say you want to fight him pull out and say he needs to fight you...Ahhh no you can’t. We don’t care Ryan, everyone of these young boxers has heart until it’s time to fight. Officially a duck.Comment

Agreed it was done recently. Hence, my comment about now do you find it acceptable, to which you asserted that he was still champion. He is not. They've taken the belt from him, it is now with Ugas. In recess means he has the option to make himself mandatory when he chooses. But he is not champion, he no longer holds the belt.Comment

While I agree with you to some degree, you are being selfish here. These are people's lively hoods. They are not your slave to just destroy their bodies for your amusement. I love boxing as much as the next guy but at the end of the day I prefer someone to end their career like Mayweather Jr vs Ali. Nobody wants to see their favorite fighter struggle later in life and have those types of problems. These guys understand that in order to stay out of the ****** they need to be smarter and make money early and fast then they can invest that money and live comfortable. The best should always fight the best I agree but at the end of the day this is their profession and this is how they put food on the plate.
I guess that's just old school fight fan vs new school. Watching guys with 40+ fights before they get big shots or actually watching their career come up from like ESPN showcases to PPV (Miguel Cotto). It's just my mindset and thinking of those days.
Without a doubt the better is obviously having less fights and massive paychecks for the fighters health, I know. I'm just coming from a fight fan perspective and let's pretend the fighter can take 40+ fights before his big opportunity and within those 40+ fights he barely takes any damage, I wouldn't mind that. I just like to see them put in the work before the opportunity.
Kind of how my own life/career has gone. I've climbed the ladder to get where I'm currently at and it hasn't been easy.Comment

Personally if I was looking to fight some of the top guys in my division but I was given the opportunity to fight a living legend I would fight the legend. He will get far more exposure fighting Pac than he has in the past or would get by fighting Davis/Haney.
I personally am not a fan of Garcia. He wants all the reward with minimal effort. He has that millenial attitude. Because he has stated early on that he plans on retiring early after he makes enough money, I cannot knock him for the decisions he makes. At least he is honest. For the record I place him in the bottom half of the top 10 in the division.Comment

Look, I understand the aspect coming from the fighter as well. If he can score a massive paycheck without working his way up and taking punishment on his way there, they'll be all for it.

Not defending Garcia and his attitude but I am going to play devil's advocate here. Garcia has never shown that he wants to make a career out of boxing. He is good enough to make good money from it but it is clear that all he wants is to make enough money from it and retire early so he can go back to focusing on his instagram modeling.

I agree with everything you said and I understand why he's doing it. But as a boxing fan it's a disappointment.Comment

Yes, very big disappointment. One can only hope that the Pac fight does not go through and he is now forced to face Haney or Davis next. I think he has more trouble against Haney than Davis. If he can learn to use his size against Davis he could really give him trouble. Against Hany though, Haney is longer and slicker but who knows if he can land the shot that Campbell did.Comment
