I just noticed these lightweights are big boys

Devin haney, ryan garcia, rolly romero, teofimo lopez, how do they make weight? Is it because they are young?

These guys will end up at welterweight.

Rolly said he walks around at 170, teofimo 155-160, ryan 155, devin haney also 150s.

Tank Davis is also a big boy too but short, he is pretty much screwed because he will be slow at 140.

A lot like Crawford when he was young enough to do the same. Even if these guys don’t fight at 135 we’ll see them all soon enough at Welter.

Where I suppose they could make empty threats at each other for years to come

          Yeah they’re more like WW’s.

Squeezing down to lower weights is wise when you begin. You can rack up a good amount of wins vs naturally smaller guys.

Campbell is another LW who idk how he makes 135 at 5’9”. While technically at 5’9” you can be 128lbs minimum and still be healthy I just find that practically unhealthy. It’s theoretically healthy but I just don’t see how. 5’9” 130lbs, you’d be bone dry and dying.

Going by height to weight ratio, i’m 30lbs above my max, making me “obese”. Yet i’m lean and people actually consider me “skinny”. I have 0 gut and i’m just no where near fat at all. So to make these small weights at their height, it is crazy the amount of sacrifice they make to do it. Like it can’t be healthy. It has to be downright miserable.

You have to understand that Manny and Bradley moved up in weight and that the welterweights of the mid to late 00s were quite small.

Historically, some of the greatest welters have been 5'9'' to 6'0''.

Some lightweights have been like that too.

Yup all 3 of them are huge LWs that is why Tank will be outgunned by both Lopez and Garcia and most likely outboxed by Haney.

Forgot about Crawford, he was a big ass lightweight, he walked around at 175 pounds too, dude was sapping himself to make the 135 limit.

It seems the lightweights in the 80s were also big, Alexis Arguello was 5'10 at 130 pounds.

then you had stocky guys like Roberto Duran who wasn't as tall but he had the stocky frame to carry the weigh to go from 130s to 147 and 160.
