Canelo gets passes for saying stuff like "i would never fight another mexican", but imagine floyd when he was active saying "i would never fight another black". He would be criticised to the max. So much double standards in the sport, and WBC is protecting canelo every step of the way.

That’s not necessarily true when it comes to Benavidez. By Mexicans he most likely means Mexican born and raised, as opposed to Mexican-Americans. There has always been a huge rivalry there, with people from Mexico always rooting against American-born Mexicans when they face each other and even calling them not “real”; jealousy about being raised in relative privilege
