I think the Gold champion is mandatory to the WBA regular champ. I thought it's like getting ranked #1 as a mandatory in other sanctioning organizations. Supposedly, Helenius has agreed to a rematch with Kownacki. And I thought the purpose of creating a super champ by the WBA was to relieve them of having to struggle with multiple mandatory defenses as a unified champ. Not sure, but I think a super champ has around 18 months to defend against a regular champ. Helenius sees the writing on the wall. He probably knows it'll take forever for the WBA to clear the backlog with the Charr/Bryan/Fres mess. Somewhere down the line, he may even have to wait for the ultimate winner of those 3 to get their shot at the super champ before he gets his.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe Bryant is the Interim Regular champ, and Helenius is the Gold Super champ.
