Comments Thread For: Charr Cleared For Travel Visa, En Route To Florida For Title Defense Versus Bryan

Mahmoud Diamond Boy' Charr is ready to face Trevor Bryan-or at the very least, call Don King's bluff. The WBA heavyweight title consolidation clash appears to finally be in play, just in the nick of time as Charr has been cleared for a travel visa to make the trek from Cologne, Germany to the United States. On his end, it was the last remaining hurdle to clear in order to fight stateside, with his announced title clash versus Bryan (20-0, 14KOs) due to take place this Friday at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

    Defending his "title"

All the alphabet groups are terrible, but the wba is by far the worst. They have 2, 3, or 4 "champions" in nearly every weight division.

Great!.. This fight will combine the REGULAR and INTERIM belts. Then there’s Fres.
        Then ?

WBA made this mess by anointing Bryan or any King fighter an interim champ. Did the impossible and made drug cheat Charr a sympathetic figure

The best part of this fight is the winner becomes the WBA mandatory. So a 2022 title shot will be in the cards so another 2 year layoff for the winner as they won’t risk losing the pay day

              Some of the Comments...

on this thread made me laugh so hard since most of y'all are knowledgeable boxing fans. And, yes, I'm not sure but Fres may still be owed a title shot against the winner. Charr hasn't fought in over 3 years and Fres in 7 when/if he gets his shot. Only in America and only with the WBA(super, regular, interim and gold champions). Somewhere down the line Robert Helenius is due a title shot as he is the Gold champion and mandatory. Mandatory to which of the titles...who the hell knows.

"All that he needs is for this event to actually take place.
King and his team were cryptic in revealing any key details, including whether the promoter ever officially booked the Hard Rock Live venue where the fight is supposed to take place.
The casino website does not list the event, nor is any employee aware of the establishment hosting such a card as confirmed through three separate phone conversations with BoxingScene.com within the past three weeks."

WTF? Even the 1980's Don King couldn't have organised a major boxing show on just 4 days notice. I'm wondering what happens now. will the fight be rescheduled, or will Charr pick up Bryant's interim title by default?

And another question springs to mind here ... why on earth did a young, unbeaten HW prospect like Bryant commit career suicide by signing up with King?

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe Bryant is the Interim Regular champ, and Helenius is the Gold Super champ.

Bryan and junior welter Amir Imam are both from Albany N.Y and were moved to Florida after signing with King under the tutelage of trainer Stacey Mckinley. i always felt that both had talent but signing with the "Don" was a terrible decision!
