I said and quote “ his legs were soften before the KO but he got beat down by hands” you wrote “His legs were already shot from kicks”
And somehow you claim “ Am implying that the same thing would happen in boxing?”

Originally posted by Cigar View PostWell, exactly. You're proving my point. In no combat arena other than boxing (including a street fight) would a small, pillow punching, run first, no-clinch fighter like Mayweather win.
Mayweather can ONLY win in a "fight" that allows him to move around a very big space, avoid clinches or have refs break clinches up, and win the most boring 36 minutes of "combat" anyone has ever seen. It really is an indictment of boxing itself that this guy is, by far, the number one earner in the sport. And boxing will always be tops for me. I grew up watching it and I still love it. But Mayweather has been the biggest curse on this once great sport. Now you have these PBC guys all trying to follow his out of the ring blue print. And MMA and YouTubers see that they can make obscene amounts of money in the boxing ring without having to learn or risk too much. It's all ridiculous.
Fights usually end up on the ground, or some form of wrestling. When you take this away, you’re really hindering the fighters options on what they can do to win. Removing things like kicks, knees, headlocks, grappling, weapons, low blows, poking the eyes, throwing sand at eyes, and rabid punches, was a way to make fights cleaner. Add these options and you have even more ways to win now, even if you’re not the best fighter of your peers, you now have a higher chance of winning some way. Kicking/kneeing and grappling are very important in a real fight. I prefer my chances if the rules allowed me to kick, knee, wrestle, choke you, break your arm, put you in a headlock, sweep your legs, toss you on the ground, etc.
You take this away from me and tell me I can only punch, you’re hindering me and my chances of winning. You’re making it harder for me to win. You’re making me specialize in one thing that if i’m not great at it, I don’t have the option to up my kick game, or increase my grappling/wrestling/take down ability. So if I suck at punching, i’m pretty much done. I’ll be a journeyman at best. Or classified as a “bum” by fans who can’t get a win over a top name ever in my career.
In MMA, “journeymen/bums” get wins over “top” names almost every other card. And go back to being mediocre right after that win, can’t capitalize on the win.
In the case of Floyd fighting in a “big space” and “running”. There’s such a thing called cutting off the ring, there’s swarming too. Castillo and Maidana did it very well. As far as Mayweather being a pillow puncher, McGregor was knocked out by that pillow puncher with 10oz gloves, 6oz more than the UFC’s 4oz gloves. So McGregor was KO’ed by a pillow puncher. Not a good look.

So learn defensive kickboxing and defensive wrestling ie mixed martial arts skills that nobody learns in boxing?
And the idea that all a boxer has to do is get into punching range for 5 seconds and they will instantly win the fight isnt true either, theres been plenty of instances of pro boxers getting into punching range and landing shots in various other combat sports and outside of Mercer/Sylvia it doesnt happen. The other guy has tons of experience in boxing range and is not a fish out of water the way the boxer is in every other range.
This is like saying "how can someone not learn to throw a jab, cross and hook, its not rocket science", you're downplaying the nuances and the levels. Conor had his first pro MMA fight 13 years ago, but still got absolutely wrecked by kicks just now, he also got completely dominated by Khabib on the ground in spite of being a BJJ black belt. But you're acting like a boxer can drill sprawls for a month and suddenly hes keeping lifelong wrestlers standing.
There is no sub 125lb weight class in MMA so its an impossible question.
There was a 5lb weight difference, a one inch height difference and 2 inch reach difference lol. And Floyd was the same age GSP is now, but GSP has been retired for much longer than Floyd was at that time. So for the record you'd favor a current top LHW or cruiser to beat 40 year old GSP in an MMA fight?
And lol @ Floyd giving any advantages to Conor, it was a ****ing straight Queensberry rules boxing match that completely restricted Conor from bringing anything Floyd might have been uncomfortable with, they didnt even let it be with smaller gloves just in case. Same goes for the Tenshin fight even though Floyd was much bigger.
In boxing gloves, would he have walked through those punches in 4oz gloves? what about kicks and knees?
And Conor was actually outstruck in two different fights by Nate Diaz the year before the Floyd fight. He also got dropped on his ass with a punch the year after by Khabib who has ****ty striking, and has just been knocked out like 5x faster than Floyd managed to do it, an actual knockout not the ref waving it off while he was on his feet.
It wouldnt be seen either because they'd be on their back inside 30 seconds like all the other boxers that dont count for some reason or other.

Physical ability, reflexes, use of footwork, timing of punches, angles to throw punches in, best defensive tactics to limit the amount of punishment.

boxing would have to be a cash out fight he knows hes losing to get big money or some complete unknown that is "suggested" he isnt there to win.
You want him to fight legit top 10 or top 5 middleweights he gets brutally sparked out. he took mayweathers shots better than i expected but even ignoring skill gap, hes got no power at all to keep them guys off him

People want to see McGregor get knocked out cold, that's what's going to happen if he keeps boxing.
This is BS. A humans punch resistance, is not determined by what sport he's in. Thats crazy talk. Floyd has always has a good chin, plus, he probably rolled with it, AND seen it coming.
Even if he didn't, and it was a clean shot, pure, plain, and simple, a humans biological punch resistance, is NOT determined by what sport he or she is in.
What you are referring to, is most MMA fighters, are not going to have the skill to setup good KO shots on an elite boxer.

Or even clinching, because Kenny Bayless will break that up. So he runs around the ring and scores a few points and gets a boring, yawn fest decision. Can't do that in MMA.
And quit with the race crap. You're only proving that you're the racist.
