DAZN needs to make Golovkin fight Andrade because Canelo has bigger fish to fry at 168. He’s looking to unify that division and Golovkin has no one else to fight at 160.

Other then Jacobs and Derevychenko, he took no risks other then chasing Canelo like a hoe. Arguably lost to Jacobs and got his ass whooped by Derevychenko. Make him fight earn another Canelo fight by beating Andrade, possibly Charlo as well. Winner meets Canelo.

What fighter makes Canelo look sloppy? It’s not 2013...

The point is DAZN never picked Canelo’s opponents. Canelo had the final say. DAZN wanted Canelo to fight Andrade because it was less riskier than Kovalev, so much that they give Hearn the green light to offer Canelo $5mil more. The $5mil more was simply the difference that Kovalev and Andrade made, which was $5mil. So in the overall budget, they’d be spending on Andrade the same amount as with Kovalev.

BTW I rate Canelo as 1 or 2 p4p, but slicksters or fighters with elite speed make Canelo look sloppy. Khan even managed to do it, and that guy wasn't even elite at Welterweight, let alone Light Middle or Middleweight where they fought!

It's a fact, and it's not a knock on Canelo. Every single style and fighter has its kryptonite, and that's Canelos.

It’s more because the risk isn’t worth the reward, he’s boring in and outside the ring, doesn’t bring numbers in terms of ppv and few outside of boxing know who he is.

Add to that he’s no mug when it comes to fighting. But he’s nothing special, I think a fit motivated BJS boxes his head off!

Blokes biggest win is Brian Rose hahahaha
Not even bjs believes that. Thats why he ducked him at 2 different weights

i always preface my comments on boo boo andrade with this...im from RI just like him...known about him since he was a kid and were such a small state we always pull for anyone hard who is taking their skills to a big stage in any sport.....

his career is a major disappointment...i think his best win is actually sulecki...prob best fighter hes beaten if you ask me...still not a great win but to me thats his best

what i find completely interesting is this....there was a large group of people who hated on him for some time...the minute he signed with hearn they suddenly starting championing his cause "oh good were finally going to get to see him in meaningful fights"....and that STILL hasnt happened

how is it that hearn...who has AJ(top 2 or 3 star in sport) cant get andrade a meaningful fight? you have a top asset like AJ you should be able to use that to parlay something good for andrade....makes no sense to me but what do i know?

First, your average boxing fan KNOWS Kovalev is a more dangerous fighter than Andrade. One doesn’t just assume card theory or 12 rounds. You have to gauge how Canelo would get hurt by either two if he makes a mistake. In both scenarios should Canelo have lost to Kovalev or Andrade there would’ve been rematch clauses anyways.

With this risk, DAZN would prefer Canelo losing to Andrade than Kovalev. It’s safer! Plus Andrade wasn’t getting a Kovalev purse north of $12mil. This means Matchroom/DAZN could supplement Canelo the difference from Kovalev and Andrade; thats the $5mil Andrade is referring to. Its also easier for Hearn to not share costs with Main Events...

In other words Kovalev was like a Lara scenario. Nobody wanted Canelo to fight Kovalev for a riskier LHW belt attempt. Canelo was being stripped the IBF anyways so there was no longer any benefit in fighting Andrade.

Andrade disclosed important information on how DAZN didn’t want Canelo fighting the riskier Kovalev! Andrade gotta be smarter than this!

No one who knew anything about Kovalev the fighter thought he was a bigger threat to Canelo than Andrade. The Ward fights took away the aura of invisibility that Kovalev had. He was intimidating to get in the ring with and a lot of his opponents were defeated by that aura before they got in the ring with him. Ward shattered that aura into oblivion and Kovalev hasn't looked like the same fighter since. Plus he had just fought a couple months before so that was a hell of a short turn around time. Plus while he hits hard he would have been much slower.

Andrade could use his skills, reach and style to win a boring decision against Canelo and is a lot less well known. Other than landing a hail mary shot there is no objective measure in which he was the more risky opponent. He presented many of the same challenges as GGG but bigger, slower and reduced capacity to withstand adversity.

They were bringing the execs at DAZN proposals such as BJS etc and they were saying no, not if you want to be paid what’s in the contract.

They were wanting GGG 3 as they thought that would bring in most money. Not sure if Canelos team put forward the possibility of an Andrade fight but DAZN would have kicked it back. Hence why they agreed Kovalev as it’s a bigger draw.

Not sure if they really considered before they offered him a deal, who actually is out there that meant the could pay him so much and still earn a profit?
I think Abel really sold GGG to the Chicano audience . after he left him , he also left those fans . no Sanchez no fanbase no buzz

Obviously Canelo and/or Reynoso (correctly) thought that Kovalev had vulnerabilities for him to exploit. At the time I kind of just assumed that it was Canelo being arrogant and hubristic in pursuing that fight.

Kovalev WAS dangerous before the 2 Ward fights. The reason Canelo fought him is because he was super beatable after getting stopped by Ward, beat up by Alvarez, and life and death with Yarde. Canelo wouldn't have fought the Krusher . Kovalev was no linger the Krusher when Canelo fought him. Most people knew it would end in a KO and if you didn't know that then maybe you weren't watching the recent Kovalev

Khan? Lol. Khan looked like trash. Throwing combinations and missing while Canelo played with him. Best moment from Khan was the first round.
