Everyone thought that the “boring” Rigo would lose against reigning fighter of the year and exciting puncher Nonito Donaire. We all know what happened and the rest of his division avoided him after that (Leo Santa Cruz, Carl Frampton, Scott Quigg).

Now we have another reigning fighter of the year and exciting puncher in Teofimo Lopez who may or may not face the “boring” Devin Haney.

Teo would be favored, however we can’t act like we haven’t seen the “boring” fighter outbox the exciting puncher.

Also, Devin laid out a solid contingency plan in case he doesn’t get Garcia or Lopez. What will Teo do if the Kambosos fight falls through?

I don't understand casuals in this thread. Haney challenged Garcia long back after his win over Fonseca.

Before Loma fought Lopez, Haney was the only one openly calling out Loma and Loma never mentioned his name once.

I'm not saying Haney will beat both, but they clearly respect him. If you think Haney stands absolutely no chance, well, if that was the case I think one of the so called other top guys would have taken him up on his offers by now.

They know Haney is a threat so they're just trying to diminish Haney and make excuses for why their guys shouldn't/doesn't have to fight him. The same thing Haney (and others) is doing with Loma.

There is no confusion about who the true WBC champ is, no matter what Haney tries to push.

Also, why does he skip Top fighter of lightweight - Loma? Linares is Tier 2 fighter and Fortuna is Tier 1.

Given that, I still understand Haney's pov here. Loma is a dangerous fight that one takes when you don't have an option. It's more of a moonshot so the upside has to make sense. The cost-benefit doesn't make sense right now ... You fight Loma who's coming off a loss, even if you win (which will be tough) you're still not considered a top guy because everyone will say he's definitely in decline. Loma did himself no favours in skipping Haney when Haney wanted a shot at him.
