The original tentative Lopez vs Loma date before Covid was May 30th. Lomachenko fight wth Campbell was Aug 31st. There was plenty of time for Lomachenko to fight his mandatory and still fight Lopez. Instead he chose to vacate.Comment

Theres a funny thing about mandatories. Everyone always brags about fighting them when they suck, But when guys like Charlo, Andrade, Devin Haney become mandatories, they get avoided like the plague.Comment

Apparently all you have to do is proclaim you’re not going to fight anyone before you fight the winner of another fight and you’re in the clear. Regardless of the time frame between fights.
Seems as though that approach doesn’t fly for Haney as he clearly said he’d want to fight the other three young lightweights before fighting Loma.Comment
