If ibf had already called the mandatory it was always going to be unlikely that they were going to sanction any other fight in the meantime.

He isn't going to get Russell from pbc without a title or a big money offer. Xu doesn't look likely anytime soon and it'll probably be the same IE no title + big money.
He wasn't going to fight Russell regardless.

Warrington beat Selby as a mandatory on the same day that Russell beat Jojo Diaz and both fights were on Showtime. Warrington didn't want to fight him then, and he made fights against other guys that held belts instead of Russell.

After he has dropped the belt he claims that he wants that fight now? That's BS. He would have got more money off a unification but time after time he wanted to fight someone else.

Yes, I completely agree with you.

Seems he also doesn't want to fight Galahad (again) either!

      Thanks.

Did he just say who would want to fight someone who is knocking out fighters at a higher level in him? He has 7 KO in 30 fights. He were the boxers at higher level that Josh stopped? His decision to drop the belt is not only a risk but a silly one. Like he said his fans and the belt was his only leverage, now he has none....

Totally agree, he just didn’t want to fight kid again. If Kid signs with PBC they should do a round robin with Cruz and GRJ, and Josh would be out in the cold, hoping Navarate would want to fight him.

"Compubox had me winning by landing 50 or 60 more punches than him throughout the fight. "

And of course, you don't use Compubox to score fights. Which is why you saw Keef Thurman take an L against Manny.

            Just sayin.

If he didn't want to fight Kid again, then he should have made a fight with Gary Russell.

He went after a fight against Stevenson at the start of last year and that fell apart, then what was his next move? He wanted a fight with Can Xu who was not the super champ. The IBF didn't accept it, and that's good on their part because whether the WBA elevated Xu or not is not for the IBF to push.

Russell has been world champ for five years plus and Warrington made no move to make a unification bout with him.

Did you see his statement after dropping the IBF belt? He threw Gary russell Jr name in there, and i literally laughed. Because we all know that fight isn't going to happen.

I get that it’s a bad look for Warrington, but I totally get it. Barry fought negatively the whole fight, was clinching excessively and just stank the whole arena out. It was terrible.

Then he had the gall to say that he deserved the win. If I was Warrington I’d never fight that **** again.

Didn’t fancy the Galahad fight again. Many felt he lost in a stinker.

I don’t think his style works with Kid Galahad. Galahad can outbox him at distance or he can spoil up close and negate Warrington high energy style.

The first fight was mostly spoiling but I think he understands it’s just a tricky fight and next time he may not get a decision.
