Bradley asks why not Benavidez? Well, maybe if Benavidez would stop getting stripped of titles then he would be considered a dependable contender. Why should anyone give Benavidez a title shot if it is a big possibility that he would not make weight thus jeopardizing the fight. Why would any promoter, sanctioning body, or fighter risk giving Benavidez a shot when he is not a dependable fighter who makes weight. If he missed the weight then the fight would get cancelled costing everyone a lot of money.

Not too long ago missing weight was considered a huge no no. Does everyone recall the ton of ***** Castillo received when he missed weight in the Corrales rematch. Missing weight is such a big deal that a fighter is always stripped of his title for doing so. Juan Guzman's career was ruined by his inability to make weight. Benavidez has already been stripped twice one for weight and another time for drug use. I do not blame Canelo for not wanting to risk a fight going down in flames over a fighter who is as irresponsible as Benavidez.

As for Benevidez goes. He’s put out his 2 fight plan. He said he wants to fight Plant first then Canelo. So why would Alvarez go after either of these 2 next. I believe Benevidez when he says he wants all the smoke. But charlo, not so much. Benevidez in September is the fight to make.
