Here goes Charlie trying to be slick again. I know Charlie, he's a promoter and Floyd should get no credit for the fight but if Oscar said he was fighting Margarito then you would boost him up to be the best fighter of all time? Joke

Oscar was just off for a long time, came back and killed Mayorga. Tszyu was off forever, came back and killed a Mitchell who was on the top of his game. Oscar has put in his work and doesnt need to fight daily. Infact he seems better when he takes a long amount of time off.

You act like Oscar said he was planning on having 5 more fights. He's only having one more at the most

It seems like I'm the only one who wants a De La Hoya-Wright bout but due to their recent promotional merger that probably wont happen. I consider the man a part-time Promoter, but he still has the natural skill to make you look bad in the ring. He should just retire now and go back to his gorgeous ass wife, mansions in Puerto Rico, and his riches that will last him two lifetimes. Boxing doesn't really need him...

I completely disagree. Boxing isnt on top. They definatly need him. Again, why do you guys keep acting like its a 10 fight thing? He's only talking about having one more fight against Floyd which would secure his legacy, he would go out on top by beating the #1 fighter in the game, its against a opponent he really thinks he can beat because of his size, and it will be one of the, if not the biggest fight in history.

He could make 30mil for this fight. Hell Yeah he should do it and it would put Boxing on a high for that moment. It will be all over Sports Center with it being his last fight, against the top guy, and with all the subplots of Floyd's father and such. This fight is huge for him & boxing and then he can call it quits.

To me thats a no brainer all the way around. A fight with Winky would be good but it would be harder with much less fanfare & money. A Floyd fight is much bigger

De La Hoya is certainly putting in his time as a promoter, as he knows that he has one more fight left. I think that his way of building things while he is still int he game is unique because nobody has the influence and resources like he does, yet he still may retain some empathy towards his fighters as he still has to sacrifice in camp etc. However, I am of the opinion that once he becomes a promoter full time, De La Hoya will not have a problem pulling whaever scurrilous **** is necessary to make sure that he has the upper hand over fighters, promoters or anyone else. Just my opinion, mind you.

As for the question, I still think of him as a fighter right of this moment because I suppose the majority of the press surrounding him has to do with him fighting again and the possibility of him being involved in the biggest grossing fight in history against Mayweather.
