Usyk vs Joyce shut up about the WBSS matchup

That was 7 years ago and it was a 5 rounder.

Usyk said at the time that was a hard opponent and I can belive him, there is none of that starting slow and dropping the first 4 rounds against Joyce, because Joyce will not gas out in the second half, he's not an overweight Chisora.

Usyk might win, but I don't think a 5 round fight 7 years ago is any kind of barometer, this is a 12 rounder and it's going to be a different ball game.

I have a feeling Joyce is going to take this one, I think Usyk will try his usual slow start but then realize Joyce isn't slowing down, he will fight back hard but his gas tank will actually start to empty first so he will switch to defensive mindedness and he will lose on points

Usyk is facing the boogeyman of the division 'The fighter who is inflicting, gruesome injuries on his opponents'.

I don't rate Uysk very highly at all, but if he beats Joyce ? 'I will have to give him some serious credit'.

Joyce can pressure Usyk, just like Chisora 'But Joyce maybe has slightly better endurance and durability than Chisora, that is why this will be a really difficult fight for Usyk'.

WSB, man, WBSS is something else.

I think it's a fantasitic stylistic match-up and I think you're right that the length of the fight makes it a very different proposition, and it's also worth noting the Joe only took up boxing at 22 years old... he'd only been boxing something like 5 years when he faced Usyk in the WSB.

I really ain't sure who takes this one, cos Usyk has got the tank to go 12 hard rounds too, but you're right that the WSB ain't necessarily a reliable guide.

Usyk looked incredible in the WSB fight but in the pros it'll be a lot different as Usyk has settled into a more pro style & will have to exert a tremendous amount of energy keeping Joyce off him.
The second half will be key.

Joyce is horrible but with his size, chin, determination, workrate he is a problem not just for Usyk but for anyone. He is a literal tank.
Sometimes you only need a few great qualities in boxing to go far & JJ is a fine example of that.
If you can't knock him out or can't befuddle him with movement & angles for 12 rounds straight you're in trouble.

I think his lack of speed makes him even scarier, he drowns you slowly. Its almost sadistic.

He's a weird one because you look at him and laugh and think Christ is this what the HW division has come to? But the more you see the more you begin to realise just why he is so effective.

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes all the way.
I can see Fury, Usyk & AJ potentially beating him but I can just as easily see him beating them.
Wilder might take him out with that right hand failing that he is a dead man.

He is absolute **** yet so effective. Juggernaut is so fitting, its exactly what he is.

Boogeyman? How? He beat another prospect in his last fight. Nobody is scared of him

Hey man, why do you use single quotes a lot in your posts?

Joyce is that fighter nobody wants to talk about 'If there is a boogeyman in the heavyweight division? Joyce is closet thing to it etc'.

They don't talk about him because he hasn't fought anyone. There is no boogeyman in the heavyweight division. He's coming into his own though, so if he can get some decent wins under his belt then we can talk.

I didn't know he started at 22! I guess that kind of explains why he looks a bit uncoordinated/unnatural. He's really overachieved already then to come so far.
