    Matchroom has announced that IBO super middleweight champion Carlos Gongora has signed a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn. Gongora (19-0 14 KOs) landed the IBO strap in stunning fashion in December, coming in at late notice and knocking out hotly-touted Ali Akhmedov in the final round of their thrilling clash in Hollywood, Florida, and becoming an instant hero in Ecuador as a result.

      Good for Gongora. Dude came in as the "B" side and was brought there to lose to Akhmedev. He didn't go along with the plan. Showed some tremendous whiskers and took big shots while outboxing the Kazakh and wearing him down with his own power shots.

      Had never heard of him before that fight but I enjoyed watching him in the ring. Look forward to more of his fights.

          Happy for him. He deserves it after his underdog win. I hope Hearn gets him some good money fights.
