Comments Thread For: Bob Arum: Golden Boy Wouldn't Put Ryan Garcia In With Teofimo Lopez; Easy Work

Bob Arum would love to match Teofimo Lopez against Ryan Garcia. Nevertheless, even a masterful salesman such as Arum doesn't think he could persuade Garcia's handlers at Golden Boy Promotions to make that appealing lightweight title fight. As much as Arum was impressed by Garcia's seventh-round knockout of Luke Campbell on January 2, the 89-year-old promoter predicted the unbeaten Garcia wouldn't fare nearly as well if he opposed Lopez.

"But what, am I gonna call up Oscar and say his guy has a chance..." YES BOB! That's exactly what you do! He's the most popular fighter after Canelo, Fury, and Joshua, so yeah, that's what you do for your fighter!

Who cares Bob, we want to see Garcia vs Davis. Bob is once again on that prevent defense.

Bob makes very few big fights. The last one was Fury vs Wilder and his fighter had tampered gloves to relieve his blood pressure.

Arum had to be dragged to the table to make history’s most lucrative fight. Now he will even fight to keep rivals from having big fights? Despite his claims that his rivals are losing money throwing them?

Arum is that crab in boxing’s bucket trying to hold everyone else back. He can’t climb anymore so he wants to trap everyone below him. When this old dude is finally out of boxing revenue will shoot through the roof.

That is the best statement Bob has ever made I cannot fault anything he has said all true facts. Haney is the one who will stink out the joint and possibly beat in a ugly fight.

Lopez would be favourite to flatten the kid and with no Canelo around to promote it's a definite NO !

I agree Lopez beats Garcia at this moment, but if Golden Boy was willing, Bob himself wouldn't be running to put Lopez against Garcia. Anytime you have someone who is really fast with Power, there's going to be danger, and these guys are young, I don't mind seeing this fight marinade a little. That said, this is the pot calling the kettle black, because protecting fighters is Bob's thing, look at Crawford, he even protected Loma to a degree after the Salido fight, not as much as Crawford but it was there. He only Sacrificed Loma once he declined a little and knew he had a star in the making with Lopez, that's the only reason Bob was willing to take that risk. Bobby talks to much.

Arum is right Garcia does have slow feet but teo ain't no ballerina either . I think he needs to concentrate on promoting his best fighters properly. Now that his favorite fighter got whooped .
