Kieth Thurman is complaining about the same thing he did to Errol Spence. Now he knows what it feels like to be ignored by a worthy opponent. I don't support his argument, nor do I have any sympathy for his current situation. He was disrespectful to Spence back in the day, now he's reaping what he sowed.

My understanding is that the sport generally isn't profitable enough for Arum to pay Bud's opponents enough to attract the really big fights. That is without taking a chunk out of his own fighters pay. I think the fighters need to accept a bit less. I mean the big guys. It's not just the lockdown but the economics of the whole industry that doesn't generate enough to pay someone who thinks they are a star, like they were actually a star. The Crawfords and Teofimo's need to reduce their demands to make the fights happen.
part of the problem it this...

bud knows what guys like danny, spence, thurman, porter are making....those guys are making more than their listed purses...everybody in boxing knows this the only people in denial are the haymon/pbc haters.....haymon has done away with the old guard model bob uses and his fighters are making money and cutting out the BS like arum does.....bud isnt going to accept less when he knows those guys are still getting paid.....he can see 4-5 guys in his weight division making real good money and he knows hes one of of bobs top guys...hes not going to start taking a paycut

fighters are tired of being at the mercy of promoters...haymon saw this a long time ago and many were shortsighted....guys like teo and bud know in reality they have bob by the balls to a degree and not really the other way around....almost always, at some point, bob gets into a pissing match with his top guys....mikey, chavez jr, oscar, floyd....even dogging bud in the press.......bob can play dirty and shelve a guy if both sides wanna play hardball....but it usually wont work out in his favor...bob is good at what he does...hes shrewd....but sooner or later bud and teo are going to have had enough if they really GAF....

I would go as far as his being essential in getting his fighters title opportunities, in order to become champions. It's after his fighters have become champions that, and have defended their titles a few times that the problems begin. It's as if after making them champions he wants them to pay him back for his help. At that point he doesn't want to split the pie fairly, as if it was all his doing. Not giving his fighters the deserved credit/payment for their own talent. He has to respect, and understand that the boxers are the ones risking life, and limb to reach their goals. Furthermore he has to learn to appreciate the blood, sweat, tears, time away from their families, operations incurred from their profession. This is lost on his continued lust to make the lions share of the all mighty dollar. He's made plenty of money throughout his decades in boxing, treat your fighters fairly. The fighters who have left him, have done so because they knew they were being short changed financially.
i agree 100 percent here....thats what bob does....hes really good at signing a kid...building him...getting him to that level...then he feels like hes owed....thats how bob works...."you work for me i got you here...be a good subservient worker".....thats always his attitude....

thats why guys love al...and bob has had beefs with oscar, floyd, mikey and others

i think you described it perfectly

Keith Thurman is having trouble coming to terms that he is now a Gate-Keeper.

Bob Arum is financially on his arse after signing Tyson Fury on a ridiculous deal has cost him a fortune that’s why nobody wants to buy Top Rank if he doesn’t make Fury v AJ X2 then expect him to retire

Facts! These guys aren't leaving PBC like guys are leaving, or have left Top Rank! There has to be a reason for that? So many PBC guys talk about their business investments, promotional companies, etc., and they always show appreciation to Al Haymon for that! The only fighter I know, that has problems with Al Haymon, is GRJ, and he still hasn't left yet!

Stars want to control as much as they can. You get to a certain level and you wonder why you have to put up with things after paying your dues. A promoter like Arum isn’t much use when you break out like Pacquiao, Hoya, Mayweather. You can avoid that headache. Guy’s leave PbC (Eubank just left recently for example). You don’t see stars leave PBC because they haven’t created any stars. GBP just had their first star, and guess what, he left them to have better control of his career. Top Rank has the most leaving them because they have created the most stars.

In this interview of Thurman’s he mentions (again, I might add) “I never mentioned a number”. But he’ll cry about lowballs. Arum is likely far too old to be playing this game of chicken with Thurman, he should ask for what he actually wants instead of just whining about what is offered. Same with Porter. Say what you want. Then the boxing fanboys can judge you with their opinions on whether it’s fair or not.

I was a big Thurman fan but he needs to fight soon. He’s been out of the ring for almost 2 years.

Then with Thurman, it was "Thurman asked for $10 Million, he priced himself out!" I believed that for a while until they offered Shawn Porter $1 Million! Porter said it, and Crawford never denied it! Bob might as well give Crawford a number for the buyout! Thurman is speaking truth, with ESPN behind him, Crawford should be able to afford Thurman or Porter!
How many time’s has a PBC hotshot fought a non-PBC fighter? Is what you should be considering here. Arum has worked with the PBC lesser’s (Crawford fought Felix Diaz for example, and Khan who was advised by Haymon), as has everyone else (Hearn/Joshua got Ruiz etc). But what about a champ? A unification? Or even a top tier fighter?

GBP gave Lomachenko a shot at Linares’ titles on his first fight moving up. DAZN/Hearn unified with Ramirez. DAZN and Fury are now reporting a done deal vs Joshua for undisputed. PBC has done this how often? And then wonder who’s holding up the fight. These guy’s might be able to get overpaid in the PBC bubble (We have all noted that Haymon fighter’s have been grossly overpaid since his beginnings), but they should realise that outside the bubble they aren’t going to get that amount of money, which is why you see these guy’s say things like “when it’s Mayweather-Pacquiao big” for simple fights with outsiders.
