It’s an interesting stylistic matchup too, the boxer vs the puncher.

I favour Plant by decision tbh.

The problem at 168 is nobody is willing to risk their 0 cause they fear missing out on a Canelo payday.

Benavidez, Plant, Saunders, Smith etc haven’t made or didn’t make one risky defence during their title reign.

I didnt think uzcategui was going to look that slow when Plant fought him.

      good win still

The Uzi win was cool, I'll count that - but just temper it knowing Uzi is a pretty raw style. I would love to see a better fight than against Truax, this one only gets me back to thinking that he really hasn't gone much beyond level of the fighter who comes out of that part of the country, unfair as that sounds - he hasn't amassed all his wins around home at all so there shouldn't be a reason to think that but I still wonder...maybe it's coincidence he fights Truax who is a perfect example of that kind of "midwest" fighter who got to fight some good names

Truax's fight against Quillin ended in a cut so this one is just one they forced anyway I guess. (edit: I saw he came back with a win in Jan 2020, fair enough he's coming off a W then)

Anyway, world class opp or not, he's probably better than Gavril who caused Benavidez a lot of problems and knocked him down...great fight, winnable fight. Against Canelo, no I don't think so but let's see it.

Yea it was basically a vacant title. But he has talent, he and benavidez both need a resume.. benavidez has the dirrell scalp at least but with the dirrells it's hard to tell what you're gonna get

😂 he always rubbed me the wrong way.

Plant has hit his ceiling and dude doesnt really deserve the title he’s holding.

He is just boring overall and puts me to sleep.

Eubank Jr.‘s win over DeGale is better than anyone Plant fought.

Same. I was on the Uzcategui hype train as well. I think the Dirrell win flattered him a bit.

Nah DeGale was absolutely shot when Eubank beat him. Uzcategui would have smashed that version of the DeGale, that’s why he vacated the belt and ducked him.

It's amazing the amount of hype Plant has gotten based on a win in a largely sloppy performance over a B level plodder 2 years ago. In his next fight, Uzcategui was outboxed and dropped by a guy not even ranked in the division.
