They had a choice between Pulev and Usyk. They didn't take Pulev because he was the bigger challenge
Plus. they could have done both mandatories this year too. But no, they NEEDED to have fans in the crowd for Joshua/Pulev.Comment

I'm not sure they had a choice. Typically the sanction bodies have a rotation for mandatories.Comment

Usyk got skills.
Why risk losing to Usyk for lesser money when you can lose to Fury for silly money?Comment

How did they get 52% from 21 KO’s in 33 fights? That would be weird. How many fans were saying this? Was it really everyone? Or just some posters?
Ruiz had a 65% KO ratio going into the Parker fight. 64% KO ratio going into the Joshua fight. He also had the weight advantage over AJ.
With that said I did pick AJ over Ruiz in the first fight because I felt Ruiz was too overweight and out of shape.
Ruiz 64% KO ratio is all at HW. Usyk hasn’t really proven to be all that powerful at HW. He knocked out Witherspoon and decisioned Chisora. Chisora has already been stopped multiple times in the past. So we’re not talking about an iron-chinned fighter here.Comment

He might have skills but his name means nothing on AJ’s resume. He’s a HW who just came up from CW, looked mediocre vs a mediocre HW, and would be seen as a cherrypick by almost everyone. AJ would be accused of ducking Fury. The smarter thing to do is actually fight Usyk, who’s lower risk, win, then fight Fury. Fact is Usyk is a lower risk lower reward opponent. But let’s be honest here this “lower reward”, we’re talking about millions of euros and home field advantage. It’s only a low reward relative to what he can make vs Fury. But he’d still make a fortune fighting Usyk.
Usyk has 0 legacy at HW. Fury has lineage, Ring title, better resume. Fury is higher risk I agree, but Usyk is still good money.Comment

First of all, AJ-Fury fight is going to move forward with no impediment. Usyk is only negotiating here looking for a bigger step aside money. He know himself he is not ready for those big boys. This is strategic posturing, that’s all it is.Comment
