Comments Thread For: De La Hoya on Golovkin Threat: I'm Not A Walk In The Park Like The Last Guy He Fought

How does Oscar De La Hoya respond to a thinly-veiled death threat? By smiling from ear to ear, apparently. The threat in question was lobbed by middleweight titleholder Gennadiy Golovkin, who, a couple of months ago, responded to a reporter's query about De La Hoya's recent desire to return to the ring and face a top fighter. De La Hoya had mentioned that he would be more than open to facing Golovkin and that he "always took apart fighters like him." Golovkin responded with uncharacteristic venom.

The sad part is that Oscar doesn’t realize that the nobody that ggg just fought, puts Oscar in a body bag. This near 50 year old drug addict doesn’t stand a chance against any halfway decent pro boxer. Hell, Jake Paul might put him out.

For his own good, someone that De La Hoya trusts needs to tell him that a comeback makes no sense. De La Hoya did indeed take on the best during his fighting career, he didn't try to protect his record and he should be applauded for that... But there is nothing to be gained by coming back at 47 (soon to be 48) to try and mix it up with prime fighters. Coming back to boxing is just giving in to another addiction. Whatever he feels is missing in his life, boxing might temporarily satisfy it, but it won't go away... and then what does he do.

I'd rather beat up a ho than let a ho put a giant sized ***** up my ass while I was coked up and wearing fishnet stockings, high heels and girl's panties. And oscar admitted he was a drug addict, that's why he went to rehab.

His last fight was what, 12 years ago and got stopped by Pacman. GGG would destroy him. Hell, Pacman could still beat him today.

DLH didn't look great at middleweight 15 years ago.

It wasn't a threat, it was just a statement. I was a huge Oscar fan, but **** he had two fights at middleweight (one was at Caneloweight) sixteen years ago, and looked awful. He gets in there with Golovkin and it'll be reminiscent of his fight with Manny.
