Anthony Joshua is held to a high standard, if he is not facing Fury? He will be facing Uysk etc.
And what about wilder? When he was a world title holder, are you saying then that wilder has a better resume to fury?

Wilder did face Ortiz when he was one of the boogey men in the division 'Apart from that? Wilder also does not hold himself to a high standard'.

I get what you are saying but 'I don't think it is the story of the sport, for all champions'.

Agree with most comments on here, Joyce doesn’t need this fight!

        He deserves a bigger fight

No I hear you, and you right, too an extent they all have lots to prove. I like to see it as fury has beaten more champs than AJ or wilder, BUT there’s a whole lot more to do. In past eras these accomplishments wouldn’t be enough. The standard of boxing as a whole has changed and lowered. So instead of me been petty, I see the exact point you are making.

Does anyone believe the Ortiz bogey man thing anymore?

He didn't get the fights early because he looked bad against B level opposition. He was sent to the UK to be built into an AJ fight and he just didn't look good in his two fights. There was a Monaco card built for him to headline and shine and announce himself to challenge go watch it on youtube. Hearn had to apologize for it.

Later when he was offered an AJ fight for he turned it down. His last fight was against someone rated below 170th in the division. His amateur record ain't great go look at and compare to say Povetkin.

I think Joyce's next fight should be for a world title or at least a mandatory position etc.
Other than Dubois, his last 5 fights are:
              Michael Wallisch (Age 35)
              Bryant Jennings (Age 36)
              Alexander Ustinov (Age 44)
              Bermane Stiverne (Age 42)
              Joe Hanks (Age 37)

Yes he's earned a bigger fight, but he hasn't constantly fought dangerous prospects. He's fought one.

Makhmudov should go after Wach and break the unbreakable. Low risk, big statement.

As most said Joyce is the WBO #2 & has bigger fish to fry. This guy which gets you a 146 points in scrabble (Name too long to pronounce & too hard to spell for this cat) should move into the next phase of his career. Fight Wach, Duhaupas, Rudenko, Molina or someone at that C+ level first.

In the absence of Wilder, it's time for The Lion Makhmudov to take over as the next knockout king.
