A matchup once hoped to have contended for 2020 Fight of the Year now has the chance to lead the pack for the year ahead. Miguel Berchelt-one of the longest reigning active titlists in the sport-is officially set to make the sixth defense of his 130-pound crown as he faces unbeaten former featherweight titlist Oscar Valdez. The all-Mexico battle will take place Feb. 20 live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, as formally announced by Top Rank on Wednesday.

I'm glad this is official now.

This fight will be a war. Berchelt will apply immense pressure. The problem is Valdez gets hit too much... but his power can be a threat.

Great fight, their styles should complement each other very well. There's no way this isn't a foty candidate. Like most I'm leaning towards berchelt getting the W, possibly by stoppage

I really like Valdez but his best years were with Manny Robles. I can appreciate what Eddy Reynoso has tried to do for him as far as defense but it just seems like he isn’t fighting as hard as he used to, isn’t punching the same, getting hurt more and still taking punches.

All of the above mentioned is probably the result of his peak years. Imo he hasn’t been the same since the Quigg fight.
I don’t see him and Berchelt being close at all. Reynosos gonna have Oscar trying to box more and it’s just not gonna work. Valdez is gonna either shell up and get beaten up or he’s gettin knocked out. It might be fun for a couple rounds but then I expect Berchelt to takeover even if it goes the distance
