Also, i hate when peolle talk about "Smith only had a 5 week camp" SO DID CANELO!! Difference is, Canelo is a full time boxer and stays in the gym even when there's no fight booked.
You don't think the guy that picks the date and knows about it in advance isn't already having camp?

Also, there's a huge difference in "staying in shape" and having a training camp. Training camps are incredibly expensive and come out of a fighters pocket. Canelo had both Plant and Smith thinking they were getting the fight for that date, so I doubt either of them were going to pay for a training camp without a contract. Tyson Fury STILL loathes David Haye for pulling out of their fight and costing Fury a fortune on camp costs.

Lara, Trout, Mayweather, and to a lesser extent Jacobs all had success boxing Canelo, no reason to think the fleet footed and quick handed Plant won’t do the same. And one thing about plant, he is deceptively heavy handed much in the same way Terry Norris was....perhaps with plant it’s a matter of pin point accuracy mixed with speed but his counters that drop and hurt fighters come out of nowhere. Plant is the toughest champion for Canelo at SuperMiddle
I disagree, I won't say that it will be an easy fight for Canelo because it won't but I don't think that Plant has what it requieres to beat Alvarez, this is is what is all about for me:

I'm a guy lo loves to make breakdowns and love to read breakdowns specially from trianers like Edwards and Davison, there is one thing that caught my attention about what Edwards said in twitter, I'm paraphrasing but he basically said that the guys who give Canelo most trouble are smaller and faster guys than him like Mayweather, Trout and Lara, Guys at higher weights are slower and less mobile than those guys I just mentioned plus Alvarez has what Edwards calls fast processing IQ.

For me the thing is this, yes, Plant is a great boxer but he is not faster than Alvarez, he doesn't has better IQ than him, he doesn't posess the power to make him think twice like GGG has, he's never been on that big stage, Uzcategui nor Truax won't prepare him for a dude who has seen it all in Alvarez.

I'll gladly eat my crow and come back to say I was wrong but I just don't see it, really hoping to see that fight either on May or Sep for the undisputed status.

From what I've seen and this is just my humble opinion because I've been wrong sometimes (almost never lol) I only see 3 guys at SMW who might give him fits or very close or tough fights:

Charlo, Benavidez and probably Melikuziev, the last one has to beat Kovalev which I do think he will.

Nobody is impressed with Canelo until they get in the ring with him and get a taste of his power and masterful defensive abilities. Canelo will have Plant running for his life just like Benavidez would Plant fights either of those two.

Agree, but canelo was in the middle of a contract dispute and had no idea if or when he was going to be released from his contract. Once that became official, the smith fight was confirmed and booked a week later. So okay, maybe canelo had one extra week of camp than Smith, big deal.

This is why I give credit to Floyd and how he handled his career. He walked around close to his fight weight so he never had to rush to drop weight or make weight. His camps were mostly him honing his skills and reflexes. All this talk about not having enough time for a proper camp etc is all garbage. As a professional It your responsibility to be in shape all year round and be ready. How much time did Ruiz have before the AJ fight?

Excuses are like A......Smith took the fight he signed the contract and he stepped into the ring. Like Tyson said. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. September is months away. That is plenty of time to prepare for a fight so no excuses this time.

I'd expect a man with no killer instinct in the ring to appreciate a survivalist.

Smith was targeted back in March of last year. Need links?
