Comments Thread For: BoxingScene.com's 2020 Upset of The Year: Rosario Stops Williams

By Thomas Gerbasi - There really should have been a better storyline behind Jeison Rosario's fifth-round stoppage of Julian Williams, a bout that earned Boxing Scene's Upset of the Year award for 2020. Unlike other great upsets in the sport, Rosario's win wasn't a case of an undeserving fighter coming out of nowhere to defeat a dominant champion who...

How is Teofimo vs Lomachenko not the Upset of The Year?

Teóf deserved the upset of he year, when you are the under dog against who many ranked as the number 1 p4p fighter at the time, you can’t upset a better fighter

Thing is though, plenty of people were picking Lopez to win. Maybe not on points but still many picked Lopez to win. In the pickem league too. Not a single person picked Rosario to win and the betting odds were wayyyyy wider also.

They are exaggerating it by saying he was 30/1 dog though. Pretty certain he was 10/1 at most.

Rosario was a 20-to-1 underdog, people. It's clearly the top upset.

              Actually, a 30-1 underdog.

This just goes to show that, even though Boxingscene had Bumchenko #1. P4P, deep down inside the writers here knew Vasily was a overrated hype-job fraud.

Teofimo wasn't as much of an underdog as you think. The odds say so, and the many people here, including me, who said so before rhe fight knew what was up.

Teofimo vs Lopez was a championship unification, Williams vs Rosario was a homecoming match. It was meant to be one of those showcase fights in front of the home crowd.

That's way more of an upset than a champion beating another champion in a unification fight.

How many people thought Rosario would win compared to the number of people who thought Teo would win?

                  Be honest.

I was gonna ask, "Not Loma-Lopez?" But you answered perfectly. Loma-Lopez didn't even feel like an upset. Not one thread on upset was made on NSB.
