When Mayweather fought Gatti, he trashed Gatti as a C-level opponent (which he is), but he had to destroy a star to become one himself. notice how his popularity SKYROCKETED after he gave Gatti one of the biggest beatdowns I've ever seen. then a couple weeks later Hopkins lost to Taylor and WAHLAH Mayweather becomes the new pound for pound king.
