Besides the drug thing I like the guy. What needs to happen is him vs Ortiz.

Typical of Eddie to force this type of 1 sided unfair clause into his contracts.

And People wonder why Eddie struggles to make fights happen.

Hopefully we will see the soles of whytes feet again, when he's laid out by the geriatric again
For some folks Eddie Herne can never do anything right. Why all that hate? Which other promoter has been giving us more bouts than Eddie in this covid-19 time?

Are you guys too daft to understand that professional boxing is nothing but business and that the job of a promoter is take of his boxer's business, make sure that he's making money?

Stop hating and try to be a bit logical and realistic in your opinion.

Bob Arum was hosting cards twice a week during lockdown.

        Stop sucking off promoters.

It’s not hate it’s what is ruining boxing in the already weak HW division. Who the hell wants to see retread fights of non title matches? This is the sole reason why there is little to no movement in the HW division and boxing in general. During the 90s name for me matches that had rematch clauses for non title fights. If there were any it was far and few between unlike today.

In the 90s when a fighter lost he moved on and may have revisited that opponent down the road. There was constant movement in boxing. In the 90s Povetkin would have been immediate WBC mandatory.

But no, we have to deal with Hearn garbage rematch clauses that locks out a legit claim and will lock the WBC for god knows how long

I’m not sticking up for anyone, I’m just answering his question since he seemed to think only Eddie has been hosting cards for some reason.

These guys basically said it all for me.

Povetkin should already be on to another bigger, better fight not this ****** rematch.

Hopefully Whyte spent this entire time finally learning how to defend an uppercut, only to get iced by an overhand right or left hook. One can dream.

Which Heavyweight fought a dangerous fight after already being mandatory for a title in the 90's?

The only way the fight could happen with Dillian already being mandatory, was if a rematch clause was put in the contract.

How has Eddie ruined the Heavyweight division? Which promoter has provided the fights at Heavy that Eddie has? Which Heavies have fought the very best like Eddies stable?

Povetkin may likely lose the rematch, but who cares? At his age to be this dangerous and taking fights like Whyte is amazing. I respect him. I know he had the doping issue, but he has been clean since and I believe in letting humans live down their ******ity once they show they learned from it. COVID is not the death sentence most people have been led to believe, but this is a nasty virus that can really effect people long term. I do not love Povetkin fighting Whyte for his first fight back considering how long he has been hit hard by it. But his determination to fulfill his obligation shows he is a boxer who takes his obligations serious.

What ever children's charity he involves himself in will be so much better for it.

A promoter's job is ultimately to protect the interests of their clients, i.e. the fighters.

A contract reflects the bargaining position of the parties involved. Povetkin and his team weren't forced to sign the contract, were they? Ultimately, that rematch clause saved his client's ass so clearly Hearn is doing something right. I don't think he particularly cares what old JKP has to say about it online.

Your sentence "And People wonder why Eddie struggles to make fights happen." seems pretty odd when you're using a fight which happened as an example of how he supposedly struggles to make fights happen

Eddie is a non-American promoter with a mouth. Plenty of people on these boards take that to mean that he is the devil incarnate. He's just a regular a**hole promoter, nothing to see here.
