Comments Thread For: Berlanga Explains That His 'Killer Instinct' Fuels The Knockout Streak

According to Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, super middleweight puncher Edgar Berlanga is the 'greatest power-punching phenomenon' since a young Mike Tyson. Berlanga significantly raised his stature in 2020, as he continues to ride an undefeated knockout streak of 16-0 with 16 knockouts - with all of his knockouts coming in the first round.

When I saw this guy fight on lomachenko vs Lopez undercard, I had never heard of him or seen him before.
And based on his performance, I thought he was a domestic level fighter.

After the fight I saw people posting about Berlanga being the “real deal”

Are people really buying into the first round ko streak fkn lol

Fight a live opponent. We saw with Brunson than a KO streak can get you attention but it's not going to make you a star. Hardcore fans saw him looking bad vs Lubin sparring, and the casual fans this stunt seems aimed at are too busy with youtube fighters to care. If he actually beat a good opponent he'd get more legit attention

          Could be that

Could be the fact he hasn’t faced anyone in the top 100

This right here... its 1 thing to knock everybody out first round it's a whole other story when you face legitimate opposition. He dont need to talk big until he breaks into the top 10 stopping people like that.

Let's see this killer instinct when he fights someone capable enough to take him past round 6.

I’m not buying into the hype yet. He has yet to fight an opponent who’ll make him dig deep. We saw this when Benavidez fought Ronald Gavril for the first time and Benavidez showed he’s the real deal.

I'm pretty sure that better opponents are forthcoming, especially since he's generated a buzz now.

Apparently Berlanga called out Gabe Rosado and I think that would be a great test for him
