    So, Felix Verdejo...

People kept calling him "Boxing's Next Cotto".

But before Nakatani, Verdejo got pieced up by Antonio Lozada Jr.

    You're thinking, "who??"

Exactly. He got pushed in by a complete nobody.

So I'm asking, first why was the guy being hyped so much?

Second, shouldn't this get people to stop hanging off 'eye test' with these guys?

Just like Berlanga... Getting too excited , when it's too early to tell.

      But why?

I don't see anything from the guy except a slimmer version of Victor Ortiz. Wild, unrefined, lacking defense, no finesse, like all he cares about is landing and not protecting himself.

      Why is that style applauded?

Because Puerto Rican fighters have a brand. They're not the only ones to have one either. Good Puerto Rican boxers are good for the sport. They have a solid fanbase and their fighters are marketable.

He needs to stay away from pressure fighters. Top Rank match makers should know better now.

I hope one of the Mexican warriors catch Berlanga and beat on him. He rubs me the wrong way

Props to Verdejo though. I want to see him march on.

Everyone from Puerto Rico gets hyped. But Verdejo was young, had the skills and was an Olympian. It's not like people were getting excited for no reason.

...him losing to Antonio Lozado Jr. is the equivalent of Victor Ortiz getting his jaw broken by Josesito.

Levels, man. I just don't see it.

he wasn't hyped at that point. people had cooled down on him after his motorcycle accident and being out for a while. I barely even remember that fight.

                    The hell he wasn't.

Everyone was calling this dude "the new Felix Trinidad" and "Boxing's Next Cotto" after he sparked out Madera, the textbook definition of a D-level fighter.
