    Why hasnt kickboxing taken off

Since the explosion of mma as pretty much the modern combat sport. The most action pact and fights fans like to see is between 2 dominate strikers. So since such and its the middleground between mma and boxing. Why hasnt kickboxing caught on like mma or even the new bare knuckle fighting. We like seeing to strikers bringing the action whether its mma or boxing so whats the cache

Kicking boxing is a little too brutal. And I personally don't like mma much because a little to ho.mo for me. I don't want to see guys mounting each other for 30mins.

US kickboxing for the most part bans elbow use which is a fun part of MMA as well most kickboxing matches turn into point fighting rather than KO fests.

I think Muay Thai has a better chance of mainstream success.

I still dig kickboxing & used to watch it all the time back in the day when ESPN & Showtime used to show it.

That said I think part of it is it can look so sloppy at times. And if you've ever seen a guy kick a lil too high or off balanced & miss his opponent by a mile + land directly on his ass while looking like a complete moron there is nothing that happens as often in all of combat sports that looks as ridiculous & un-combat sports-ish than that which doesn't sell the sport very well.

Yea I'd agree. If I was a combat sports league CEO wannabe Muay Thai might be at the top of my short list of things to Americanize & try to take mainstream. Elbows definitely make it more exciting.

My understanding is Mauy Thai is a must have discipline in MMA. Most guys will train Mauy Thai in MMA.

Yeah most definatly though its several styles of kickboxing and most ehat mma guys learn is begginer to middle tier muay thai from a thai person viewpoint. Yes muay thai is a must have for mma though as a practicer of kickboxing id say dutch kickboxing would be best suited for mma . to simplify for in layman terms dutch kickboxing is muay thai that incorporates more boxing to set up openings for kicks clinch and vice verse think nieky holzken or tyrone spong. Which why i think that style suits anyobe who wants to crossover between mma n boxing with reasonable competency

                  Simple.

Kickboxing doesn't have a Dana White.

He's the only reason MMA/UFC has become what it has

I mean, think about how nobody really cared about Bellator or Strikeforce.

I used to watch K-1 and Rizen is putting on some good fights. These are straight up striking matches. Not that gay sht on the canvas.
