  • Comments Thread For: Hunter: I Want Dillian Whyte Next But Really Anyone Can Get It

Michael Hunter didn't waste any time in seeking out his next target. Having been out of the ring for more than a year, Las Vegas' Hunter once again climbed through the ropes for his first win in more than 15 months as he scored a 4th round knockout of Shawn Laughery. The heavyweight fight took place last Friday evening in Galveston, Texas, with the second-generation heavyweight agreeing to appear on the undercard as means to end his inactive stretch in hopes of making noise in the year ahead.

Anyone but Hrgovic ? Notice how that name has left the building.

Wait isn’t he meant to be fighting hrgovic next? I swear I read that the deal was done once his tune up is sorted.

I’d like to see Whyte/Hunter or Whyte/Ortiz. I’d like to see Hunter against any top 10 HW.

Hunter would box circles around Whyte, Wide UD his way.

I thought everybody was ducking Whyte and he scared all the big boys? He's the first name on the list, they all want some Whyte. This is about the third or fourth guy this week with Whyte on his to do list.

Any fighter who goes 12 with Povetkin in a fight i thought Hunter should have gotten the decision is not losing any sleep over a Hrgovic.

More up$ide to calling out Whyte or rematching Povetkin than wasting his time with Hrgovic.

Exactly. I'm not sure where the narrative came that he's ducking Hrgovic (I've asked those espousing it with no decent answer only opinion). Hunter stated he wanted Hrgovic and the Croatian's team stated it was too early for that fight.

Hrgovic is still fighting no-hopers and trying to build a name while Hunter is facing serious competition.

This fight should happen. F interim belts. If Whyte gonna sit around waiting for Povetkin? Next month Povetkin will have polio and the fight will be delayed again. Enough. It’s an interim title that nobody takes seriously. Eddie already promotes a HW title holder. Stop the games of trying to leverage mandatories when you represent the guy with a belt and have DAZN funny money. Whyte could have fought for that belt from the moment Joshua beat Charles Martin. Years are passing

I think Hrgovic is a solid prospect & thought Hrgovic was a step down for Hunter until I looked at the December rankings. Hunter’s ranking & in brackets Hrgovic’s ranking... Hunter WBC #9 (#8), WBO #8 (#12), WBA #10 (#12), IBF #4 (#5)... They are closely ranked in all bodies & Hrgovic is higher in the WBC. This could be an eliminator in any of the bodies. Hunter says he hasn’t received an offer yet. Some posters here say he is ducking Hrgovic but those individuals have no proof so I don’t take them seriously. Realistically this would be a fight of closely ranked boxers. I’m all for it now that I see Hrgovic is ranked by all 4 bodies.
