Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez on Devin Haney: He Needs To Develop - He Don't Have It!

Teofimo Lopez was never convinced that Devin Haney was on his level as a fighter. After Haney's clear but dismal decision over trial horse Yuriorkis Gamboa on Nov. 9., he is certain that Haney is not on his level as a performer either.

I’m sure Haney has made good money by signing with Edward Hearn and dayzin.... it his career really has gone in reverse since that signing. He actually had exposure when he was a Showtime regular. Now even boxing fans forget about him. I hope his development hasn’t suffered like his profile.
Case in point, none of us are ranting about him getting a big fight, we don’t care. And the hearniacs who were all about him when he signed with Edward, making statements like “he’s an honorary Brit”, went off him and called him racial names when he stated he would “never lose to a white boy.”
Bad career move there young man....but hey, you got your 30 pieces of silver...

So now Lopez is playing Devin's promoter in order to duck him?

How is this not ducking. Even if everyone agrees he has an email belt and hasn't fought anyone, he still has the only other belt at that weight. Loma ducked Haney, now Teo is doing the same.

I'm not a Haney fan and signing to Hearn was dumb of him but that doesn't change that this is ducking.

Teo may as well of just said quack quack throw me some bread plz. It's not Teo's concern how under developed he feels Haney is. It's a good fight. No wonder Boxing is dying on its arse in the States.

So many unifications or undisputed fights being passed off due to some lame pathetic reasoning. It's really damaging the sport.

Would have been cool if Commey was like "oh this kid ain't ready. He looked bad against Nakatani and has to season a bit. We'll fight in 3 or 5 years though".

To be honest it should have been Haney vs Campbell for the vacant WBC title. Hearn at least had a date and location before the WBC pulled that franchise nonsense.

Really enjoyed reading that. It’s strange matchroom boxing USA. Feel like his guys are stagnating. And besides from Jacobs getting Canelo, he hasn’t delivered big fights for ANY of them has he? If I’m wrong, I certainly need correcting.

Glad I aren’t the only one who sees this. Makes me know I’m not imagining it. And because Eddie is so desperate for it to work, he’s started to heavily neglect UK fighters.

I can’t name one fighter that Hearn has Built PROPERLY from start to finish. People may argue Joshua has. But I’d disagree. That’s why he came unstuck against Ruiz. His title shot fell upon him, when Charles Martin saw a MASSIVE payday for himself.

He needs to do better. Point blank.

Think it’s going to be George Kambosos in Australia. He’s mandatory challenger, plus can get plenty in a huge stadium over their can’t they.

George may not be “on the same level to Haney” in some people’s eyes. Kambosos is a worthy contender and has earned his shot to be fair to him.

Good fight for Lopez, get out their in front of a big crowd and get a payday you deserve after that historic win against loma. Can’t knock that fight at all if it’s made next, anybody who does clearly doesn’t know too much about boxing, that’s only in my opinion though.
