It's a little odd that Lopez talks about Haney needing to develop some more while Kombosos got a disputed win over Selby and Bey so I doubt Kombosos is even as developed as Haney. I don't think anyone believes Kombosos is more developed than Haney. Haney would box circles around the guys that arguably beat Kombosos.
What Lopez should say is that Haney is a better fighter than Kombosos but he is choosing Kombosos just because of the money in Australia, to keep it real. But Lopez better knock the dude out or there could be some bad scoring going on down under.Last edited by daggum; 12-24-2020, 06:52 PM.Comment

The point I'm making is that Lopez is saying that Haney has to develop for 2-3 year when the fact is, Kombosos hasn't dont anything significant that he is 2-3 years ahead of Haney, yet Lopez is most likely fighting a guy who is equally not proven and clearly is not advanced over Haney. I bet if Lopez signs to fight Kombosos, he wont be saying the same things about Kombosos needed 2-3 years development. Its about being honest as to why a fighter is fighting one guy over the next.Last edited by richardt; 12-24-2020, 07:52 PM.Comment

Why not? Who else is a name that he can fight? Right now he's got to build a stronger resume and he needs names. So yeah fight Loma and look better than Teo did. Then go fight either Tank or Garcia. Then jump up to 140 and fight for undisputed there. Or Eddie Hearn should give Teo the 10 million or at least in good faith negotiate maybe they cant give Teo the 10 million but can they do it for a little less. Devin cant just sit there calling out people on the internet and get frozen out.Last edited by GodfatherIV; 12-24-2020, 09:07 PM.Comment

Another boxingscene poster who either can't count, or can't read...
My comment wasn't about who these guys fought last, its clearly about who they choose to fight, while saying another guy brings nothing to the table. Teo is CURRENTLY saying Haney brings nothing to the table, but pay close attention to who he fights next, and what they bring to the table.
Want more examples? Fighters like Canelo and Golovkin saying guys like Andrade and Charlo bring nothing to the table, but have no qualms fighting Szeremeta, Fielding, and Rolls...
I'd put it all on the fighters, but I have to keep reminding myself that they have fans like yourself, who probably paid to watch that garbage.
Well said. Cant argue with facts but then again people have to be reasonable to see reasonComment

I’m fed up with all of them to be honest. I wish Benevidez, Plant, Andrade, Charlo would all fight it out amongst each other instead of sitting and waiting for a payday as well. Canelo can only pick one at a time.
However, imagine if Plant fought Benevidez. Imagine after that fight. The media and boxing public at large would be so loud that it’d force a fight upon Canelo. The reason I don’t see them fighting each other is because of potential “0.” A “0” today doesn’t land the big money. So why risk it?
In the 80’s a 0 meant little to nothing. Each elite boxer knew that even if a “0” came about they were still getting paid well and even into their next fight. All they wanted to do is fight each other and face all elite opposition. They didn’t just talk about it like today, they actually faced elite opposition frequently. Even if they lost one or two they knew they had such a fan following and popularity they’d land another and potentially win and be right back in the hunt.
Boxing felt very different during that time. I still say to this day Mayweather, along with the media and social media ruined boxing. A loss is now seen as almost a death sentence and not worthy of getting top paid fights. Now all anyone talks about is if so and so boxer will be the next 50-0, or landing the Canelo payday. Because of this very few boxers take the risks their counterparts from the 80’s did. Everyone wants to be “Mayweather” and because of that boxing is dying.
Exactly. In all honesty fighting low or no competition only erodes your skills over time and allows for bad habits and then you're not ready for the spotlight. Plus the biggest name in the sport right now is Canelo. So much so that fighters are scared to fight each other while they wait hoping he picks one of them. They should televise Canelo handing out a rose to his next opponent lol. But last I checked Canelo dont have an "0" and he's still recognized as one of if not the best. He actually learned more and became a better fighter from his loss. In America the only story bigger than the underdog facing the juggernaut is the comeback story. So daring to be great and losing isnt the worst thing. If anything these guys should be trying to build up the resume so that they're just as much the attraction as a Teo or Canelo or whoever.Comment

Think it’s going to be George Kambosos in Australia. He’s mandatory challenger, plus can get plenty in a huge stadium over their can’t they.
George may not be “on the same level to Haney” in some people’s eyes. Kambosos is a worthy contender and has earned his shot to be fair to him.
Good fight for Lopez, get out their in front of a big crowd and get a payday you deserve after that historic win against loma. Can’t knock that fight at all if it’s made next, anybody who does clearly doesn’t know too much about boxing, that’s only in my opinion though.
As an Aussie ive watched a cpl of his fights.
He just seems ALOT smaller than Teo and the power will be the difference in this fight.
If it gets signed i will definitely be their to cheer on Kambosos.Comment
