Neither one needs the other. They already fought twice, are both millionaires and there are plenty of other options for both.

Let's just say Golovkin will gain more than Canelo if the fight takes place. Golovkin could earn half his net worth in that fight, whereas for Canelo it would be more like 20%. And it's true that Canelo has other money making options that Golovkin does not have.

However, Golovkin is one proud SOB, and he won't accept short money to make the fight happen. He might not even agree to 168. Golovkin does not think Canelo is above him in any way. So while objectively Golovkin does need the fight more, that's not a guarantee the fight will indeed happen. Or will be easy to make.

Canelo will never fight GGG again.What he said about the meat f'd that up.He can fight other guys and get 20 mil plus whilst leaving Golovkin earning 7 figures at most.Plus I'm not so interested in a third.I thought GGG won the first,lost the second, but his much vaunted power did nothing in two fights with Canelo. so a third probably wouldn't change that and he'd lose on points again.Low pay/high risk fights with the others for GGG is not what he needs in his life now.

I disagree. Golovkin doesn't really care about the 3rd fight anymore. He's moved. It would be more beneficial for Canelo to 'erase doubt' so to speak. As is, he has 2 highly questionable fights against G.

Ggg will go down as a guy who couldn’t land the big fights and when he did, couldn’t get an official win.

As it relates to their feud, Canelo will be known as the one who got very favorable scoring from judges and while in his prime, could never convincingly beat a 35/36 year old Ggg without controversy.

GGG picked the judges, including the ONE JUDGE that scored GGG winner of 1st fight...that judge, Dave Morretti, scored rematch for Ca$hnelo. Borat would later call it "bad judging"...dude HAND-PICKED THE JUDGE LMFAO

The problem with that theory is that it’s only a reflection of a *************** GGG fan who felt beating Canelo would validate GGG as an ATG. History will not discount him fighting and beating legit 168 guys and a shop worn yet still dangerous Kovalev at 175. Plus, at just 30, he has multiple years to fight in and win other significant fights.

No it's not just on this forum. The press and other fighters were ridiculing him when he was at Canelo weight. There have been numerous rehydration clauses etc. in his contracts.

Actually no, they need each other equally. Canelo has some unfinished business and that will be part of his legacy if he doesn't fight him again. Only now, the sand in the hourglass is mostly at the bottom for GGG. He's now past his prime while Canelo is in the middle of his own prime. GGG is running out of intriguing opponents at 160. From a money perspective he's made plenty. He's in the middle of a ten-fight $100M contract, not to mention the money he earned prior. He needs one solid win to solidify his legacy. Even without it, he still goes down as a HOF'er.

Paulie said it all when after the second fight that he said flat out was a robbery. Canelo will wait for Golovkin to slip more then beat him clearly in the third fight. This is going to be Canelo's legacy, aging past prime fighters, rehydration clauses, short training camps imposed on his opponents and a failed drug test.

Nah....GGG never looked dominant when he stepped up in class. History will question if he was great or just really good. Canelo will be known for weight jumping and winning titles and for using his lopsided loss to mayweather to propel himself to one of the highest paid prize fighters of all time. The clean win versus GGG in the rematch makes the first fight more footnote than historically significant event.

define “clean win”. It was a split decision in a fight that was on the table in the 12th on the scorecards and by most accounts , Canelo deserved to lose the 12th which he didn’t on 2 of 3 scorecards. Again, the overwhelming majority of press row cards didn’t have Canelo winning so pretending as if it’s a clean win is your perception but not reality. I’d actually expect a top guy in his prime to have been able to beat someone who is 36 and from what you’re saying, hyped up
