Finally I can comment on someone who knows what they are talking about. Canelo is NOW a COMPLETE fighter!

The first time I heard the term “complete fighter” was from the late Bouie Fisher.

The subject of our conversation was, of course, Bernard Hopkins. It was early 2001, before Hopkins took part in Don King’s middleweight tournament on HBO. Fisher told me that complete fighters are very rare in this era and that Hopkins was “almost there.” I told him that Hopkins showed me everything in his first bout vs. the dangerous Antwun Echols (December 1999).

Fisher said it takes at least 10 years to develop a complete fighter, and that’s only if a knowledgeable trainer has a very special student that is willing to dedicate himself to his craft for that amount of time and beyond.

I think Canelo is that kind of fighter and Eddy Reynoso is an aficionado of boxing and its history just like Fisher was. It’s taken more than 10 years, but Eddy’s star fighter has arrived. - Dougie Fisher

I 100% agree. Canelo has Offense, GREAT Defense, Speed, POWER. Canelo never panicks or looks hurt. His hits if your live sound like a mule kicking and breaking bones. Judges see and hear this. Then see the damage on him and then his opponents. Its gonna take a VERY special fighter on his BEST day to beat Canelo the next couple of years...

Agree, and he continues to work on his craft and gets better every fight. Canelo and Eddie have done a great job working together. They always bring a different game plan to each fight.

You find it sketchy that grown men were able to slug it out with Canelo when he was in his early 20's... Hmm..
And now that he just reached his prime, boxers are afraid of his power... So..... whats sketchy about that?
Everyone is now trying to discredit kovalev and Callum for their prior accomplishments, but if thy were washed up or he had no talent or skills, why did you not see GGG taking that challenge and daring to be great?
I am a fan of GGG and Canelo, but one has dared to try his skills in different weight classes and succeeded even if some question the competition. The other remains stuck in the same weight not daring to be great against questionable competition, rather waiting on Canelo to give him another fight..

Add that with the fact that he failed 2 drug tests, uses rehydration clauses, fights half his fights at catchweight (155 or 165 for Chavez Jr), forces guys to fight with 1-2 months notice, there is zero argument that Canelo, more than anyone in boxing today, uses sketchy tactics to disadvantage his opponents. It's not a wild stretch of the imagination to say that the guy is abusing PEDs like crazy.

Rather canelo face plant or benavidez...I'm not too high on either especially not saunders..he benefitted from matchmaking and a great promoter. He's basically been protected for a cash out fight.

Yea you're on the money , I don't think our lad Ricky H. helped converting all those football fans to over night 'purists'...just like being at a Froch fight was like being at the city ground Nottingham for a Forest football match. A night at the York Hall Bethnal green is a million miles away from this bollocks and the place for a proper night, fight ,chat and 'a' beer with the real fans that just laugh at Edward.

That is real boxing right there. You are clearly a man with an appreciation for the sport. York Hall is where the real fans go to see real boxers and it doesn’t matter the level. I’m a Salfordian, I’ll claim Mancunian, worker 🐝 to the heart...but for a short while I did indeed live in London as a lad as I have family in Hackney. If a Blighty man has not experienced York Hall than I question is passion for the sport. By the way, I work d the heavy bag at the police gym here for years with my Lonsdale gloves!

Not many strong arguments can be made against Canelo now. He has proven to the world is the p4p king taking apart the best at 168. Enjoy the legacy people it only gets better.

Yeah I know what you mean about Hatton. He blurred the line between boxing fans and the Manchester City fans. I admit though, I was quite a Hatton fan. The man from Stockport made boxing one hell of a party in GM. But you’re right of course. Our local lads done is proud however, Crolla, Quigg, Flanagan, Khan, Hatton, we have had some decent fighters in the last 2 decades

A lot of people forget he fought his 1rst 40 fights 147 and was 20 when he fought his first fight at a catchweight against Matthew Hatton for the belt at 152. I think he sh l ulda stayed around and fought Berto or Senchenko he would've won and would be a 5 time champ

It’s not new, it’s just gotten way out of hand due to Edward Hearn and his manipulation of the average British sports fan who knows **** all about the sport of boxing and really only cares due to nationalism. There are about 3 top level truly championship calibre English/welsh/Scottish talents in boxing: Fury, Joshua, and Taylor.
Edward Hearn and legions of nationalist troll casuals is the reason that article was so on.

I’d like to see Warrington leave his back yard and throw his hat in at the top level to see how good he is, even though his fans appear to be beef heads.
