It can be misleading because it's easier to understand a foreign language being spoken than it is to actually speak it yourself.

However, even if Canelo can speak fluent English but chooses not to - who cares? I've never understood why this bothers people. Would it make you like him more as a boxer? Duran never spoke English either and it didn't hurt him. If you really wish to understand him without the use of a translator, learn Spanish
