Why do GGG Diehards downplay Callum Smith as an opponent for Canelo?

Why can't you just call GGG fans GGG fans instead of GGG diehards?I have always been a GGG fan as you know. I think Canelo chose an excellent boxer to fight. Canelo wants to fight at 168 from now on and he wants to win all the belts. Smith is usually rated number 1 at 168 so he is the best super middleweight for Canelo to fight. I think Smith had an off night last fight and has fought much better before. I expect him to be at his best tonight and think he has a chance to win. I have to pick Canelo to win because of his speed, boxing skill, punching power, body attack and iron jaw. Canelo is a 6 to 1 betting favorite and I think those odds are about right. I give Smith a 1 in 6 chance to win. Smith needs to fight a great fight.

One of the guys praising Smith the most this week is Kushking, who last year had threads about how much Smith ****** and lost to Ryder. Odd
... Clegg, dear: do you forget that Canelo is fighting (for the fist time) under Hearn's "guidance"???...

It's a good fight. My only issue is last time I watched Smith fight I had him winning 3 rounds against John Ryder and made threads about it being the worst robbery I've ever seen. It makes it impossible for me to then turn around and pretend Mundo is a legitimate threat to Canelo.

Smith's a good fighter ,no complaints about this fight. And it wont be a walkover, this is the hardest fight of Canelos career.Laugh now ,apologise later.

Smith badly underestimated Ryder. He saw the Blackwell result and came in to blast him out.I think Smith will be much better tonight.

I think he will be better tonight, too. I can't solely judge a fighter on their worst performance but it does take something away from the fight.

What? What kind of #BoratLogic is this?

Anyhow this is truly a GREAT fight. Callum Smith is PRIME and the winner of the SMW tournament not long ago. He's had 1 close fight with John Ryder that couldve gone either way and Callum is Liam's brother, who lost to Canelo a few years ago.

This is a tremendous fight and it is actually the BEST fight Canelo couldve made today. BJS has no momentum behind himself and Plant isnt established yet.

The actual FIGHT represents a legitimate David and Goliath matchup. Should be fun

Isn’t that just how it goes on boxing forums?

If you lose, you’re a bum. If you win, you’re the best thing since Ali.

                  If you’re a top fighter and don’t fight a P4P guy, you’re fighting bums.

Smith is a solid opponent by anyone’s standards. Is he elite? Not from what we have seen so far, but he’s a world champ and not yet had the chance to prove he’s top level and now he gets his chance

There was a time when Canelo wasn’t elite. There was a time when he was getting rocked by Cotto’s brother and there a time he was a world champ and not seen as a top fighter.

So let’s see what Smith can do. You can’t knock anyone for fighting a world champ like Smith. So what if he had a close fight with Ryder?

Marvin Hagler lost to 2 fairly average fighters before he was known as a great fighter.
