This isn't happening. Just listened to a Hearn interview and he said Whyte is bit of a hot head and was disappointed his fight with Povetkin got pushed back and wanted to fight on the original date against someone else. Ortiz was the first name that came out of his mouth but Hearn told him he needs to avenge the loss against Povetkin before fighting anyone else.

If I remember correctly Whyte was pissed because he was offered less money to fight Joshua than he was making headlining his own fights against other guys. It was long ago & I could have mistaken here but I think it was all about money on that front. I remember him ranting about it & being extremely upset about the offer. I believe he didn’t want to lose his ranking with WBC at the time for less money. He was in full pursuit of Wilder. It didn’t work out for him in the long run. Ruiz took the fight & got a few million. Then turned it into another 12-14 million.

Pathetic excuse. There's no excuse for him running from a career high pay day and shot at 4 world titles.

Fight was being arranged by his own promoter...., so there's no chance he would of been low balled.
